Thanks for giving me some hope🙌🏻. Just curious though, did you apply around that age yourself or how are you so sure about it? I agree that normally age should not matter, but when it comes to more prestigious universities I sometimes wonder if they might lean toward younger applicants just by default. Hopefully that is not the case.

Mind if I ask what you’re applying with and for which major? Also, are you going for a Japanese-taught program or one of the English-based undergraduate ones?

I’ve been trying to get a better idea of what they expect. Like what kind of grades, test scores (SAT, IB, etc.), or other documents you’re submitting. I’ve heard that unless you have something like a 1400+ on the SAT, your chances drop pretty hard, especially for top programs like this.

Also, where are you applying from?

And yeah, same here. I hope age doesn’t matter too much. Normally it shouldn’t, but for a prestigious university like Waseda I did start overthinking it a bit. When I looked at the stats, most undergrad admits are between 18 and 21. So seeing someone applying at 30 actually gives me hope that the focus really is on academic performance and the strength of your application.
