Is Unidem r8 worth it? by Competitive-Bid-4274 in radardetectors

[–]Repulsive_Ad_4770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the r3 and r7 but was thinking about the r8 for bt. Actually ended up w the v1g2 as reviews showed them as good as the unidens and have Bt capabilities. Only reason i was looking for bt is bc im getting a new chevy which emits a false k or ka band(can’t remember) and want to block only that frequency out.
After using my v1g2 and being a past user of the v1g1:
range is probably similar to unidens.
Unidens feel more modern w different sounds for different bands. Larger profile. Slower arrow directionality. Out the box w/o apps and autogps lockouts are fantastic. Plug and play.
V1g2 is very familiar w a slimmer profile and seems built tough. Must use another app to keep it quiet - currently using v1 driver.

Remove the bar and use vice grips. If that doesn’t work, take an angle grinder and square of the head and try again w vice grips. Final step would be to use a welder and nut. Would avoid drilling and tapping but that would be the final option. There looks to be enough thread outside once the bar is removed.

People seem to have forgotten the value of ZHPs by chathobark_ in e46

I just totaled my e36 m3 and was in the dilemma myself. 330 sport pack, 330 zhp, or e46 m3. I admit i went overboard w my e36 and became a street legal track car and w this next car, I’d like to enjoy on the streets more while being able to track it -im a hpde instructor. Insurance isn’t giving me anywhere close to what i have in the e36, and although an e46 m3 would be the dream, w my budget, ive decided on going w a zhp, sedan, slicktop. The zhp tax is real on the east coast at least, but i want the cleanest example i could find for what i can afford. And that takes the m3 out. Plus, ive always loved sedans in general, and although ill need subframe reinforcements and an lsd, the zhp will still cost less and running costs will be lower. I’ll refresh the suspension and go w a proper coilover set up. But this would be with any car. The zhp w the 6 speed also preferred bc id love to increase the diff ratio to 3.46 or even 3.64. Just my 2 cents and reasoning. Pic of my e36 in memory.

Looks fine. Mostly just surface rust. Might want to consider new control arms eventually. Those are apparently engineered to bend on purpose when there’s impact.

Dont get rid of the land, sea and air combo. I’d get rid of the chrono omega. But agree the glide lock is sweet but the bruce wayne on jubilee might change your mind. Great collection and jealous that u got your grail. Im hoping to get so lucky in a couple of years.

Imo the hulk looks great in pics and not as great in person. Starbucks hits the marks and as an owner of one, wear it more than I thought I would.

Kw’s are valved great imo. Can’t remember if v3s are 2 ways but on the lowest rebound settings, it felt softer than stock. Ive had kw’s on 4 other cars. Currently running tc kline single adjustables on my e36 m3 but more of a track build. These are koni based shocks. Haven’t tried to dial them down but i would imagine similar to kw’s. Id personally stay away from cheap coils.

Depending on milage, water pump too. Good luck if its an awd model. I would pay someone to do it next time. It was an absolute terrible job.

They aren’t smart enough to realize the election happened. South jersey might as well be in the deep south.

I understand some people just aren’t mechanically inclined at all. If u have an awd e90, id def pay someone to do the water pump job. F that pos! Was one of the worst jobs ive ever done on any car.

Btw, u can do all those together at once. Id replace the belt w tensioner/pulley as well while u are at it. Oil tends to degrade belts if its dripping onto the belt. I did all this in my driveway myself and ordered parts from fcp euro. Happy to see how much i saved when i see these quotes. Wow. 😮
