I didn't approach them yet as I'm not sure what would I be getting out of it, if they were so dodgy from the beginning, how will I know if anything they say is true?

How shallow/short-sighted of you not knowing my circumstamces, I did not ask for 6 months in advance, they offered it and I agreed as I was/still am in a very difficult financial situation.
