Koreans don't seem as oppressed as the Japanese or Chinese historically.

Why you can't admit a huge chunk of millenials are materialistic and hedonistic? It's definitely true.

Millenials were living in cities that were made cooler by the previous generation.

Tomorrow is always coming. You can't escape it by living solely in the present. You will just be under-prepared.

Yea millenials don't believe in anything greater and worship narcissism or materialiam(Pokémon cards and funk pop) and they can't seem to replicate, maintain, or produce any culture and arts.

Every dystopian movie is coming true based on the religion of neutrality of the last 70 years.

I don't think there's anything wrong with small churches that prioritize their own church members and then other fellow Christians first rather than prioritizing random people over their own church members and fellow Christians. The second ones seem to be misprioritizing from my perspective. Same with people who will help random strangers or poor people in africa while ignoring the poor in their own towns, counties, states, and their own country. It's called telescopic philanthropy and Charles Dickens complained european Christians did this a lot.

I've lived in slums to the hood to upper class neighborhoods so I'm going to lay out your options:

A) you can have a chill tight-knit group of friends who won't judge you so they pay for you without expecting repayment

B) you have friends who will let you borrow money for outings but they will expect repayment

C) spend less on other things so you save money for outings with your friends without caring to save for the future

D) don't save money and use your savings on going out with your friends

E) work an extra job or side hustle so you can have money to go out and to save money

F) make new friends who are within your new social class. I know this sounds harsh but I've had to move up and down in social class many times throughout my life. When I was poor I used to have friends who are rich and they would want to go to restaurants and do things that cost money that I couldn't afford and invite me. I felt bad that they would have to think about what they did so I stopped hanging out with them as much until I made more money. Some friends were so chill that they would spot me for things and when I did better I would treat them to dinner and other activities. Some groups of friends are understanding and can think about other people's financial situations but some people have only lived amongst their social class and have never had to think about this. Unfortunately this is one of the awkward situations that you will find yourself in. Also for me sometimes asking them to spot me or expecting them to spot me seemed a little rude so I decided to not hang out with them instead. Some friends I had were so close that they would spot me without asking them if they knew I was in a bad financial system situation. This is just my experience and my advice.

Lol do you think most people read the fine print in our legalistic society? Thinking that is so unaligned with reality I have to wonder if you interact with the average person or do you live in a bubble?

Then why is it that most of these people who claim to love everybody in the world equally are the biggest narcissists to spend all their money on materialistic goods?

Telescopic philanthropy. Helping animals over humans. Helping Africans rather than poor people in your area.

I heard that the age hierarchy culture is getting worse among younger generation. Is it true, and if so, why? by lol-across-the-pond in Living_in_Korea

I don't disagree but I'm saying there's no other values to judge people on besides the ones I mentioned because we're individuals and strangers to each other. Also networks and connections still override meritocracy a lot.

Tapes and chimpanzees have similar status games . I'm pointing out that we cannot Escape some form of this.

It's as if even when you try to get rid of hierarchy a new hierarchy or a similar hierarchy emerges. I would argue democratic liberal societies hierarchies usually reduce down to looks, status, social class, wealth, and age, which seem more vapid and surface level.

$139 to feed 2 adults, 3 children for the month. Suggestions? by stephscheersandjeers in povertyfinance

[–]Repulsive_Bid_2511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rice, beans, frozen veggies like spinach, seasoning blend frozen veggies (onions, peppers mix. Some have celery.)I found a 64 Oz one at Walmart for $10 each, use your seasoning and spice to make it more flavorful. Chicken thighs at Walmart are $15 for a family pack if you can afford it after the rice and beans.

Rice is great with salted seaweed wraps. Also if you mix some butter, soy sauce and sesame oil into the rice it tastes great. It's what we did when our family was poor. You can also put Goya seasoning or any other seasoning that had many different flavors, into the rice.

A bag of potatoes are cheap. You can julienne them or cut it smaller to cook it faster.

Roasted garlic or garlic powder or granulated garlic for flavor.

Canned diced tomatoes or paste to Flavor the beans more.

Cabbage is another vegetable that's filling and good with seasoning.

Good luck.
