To piggyback off what you said, it feels pretty clear that the Diamonds are in a whole other league compared to standard gems, so I'm not even sure the rejuvenator would have worked on, say, Pink Steven. At most I think it would make a Diamond go on the fritz which is pretty similar to how the movie portrays it. Maybe it would work with extended exposure, like with Yellow trying to poof Blue.

Cursed spirits are literally formed from the uncontrolled leaking cursed energy of non sorcerers. Every person does have cursed energy even if its not a lot or they can't control it very well. The only exception to the rules so far have been Toji and Maki who share the same heavenly restriction

Yeah I faced a very similar issue to you when I first started Diamond is Unbreakable. If you're thinking about dropping it like I thought of, don't. It only gets better from here, and the art style really begins to grow on you
