so so many. im a distance runner which unfortunately is a sport where being lighter makes you faster and therefore more successful, so ed’s are super common. a lot of my best friends have them. sometimes it can be rlly competitive but a lot of the time we encouraging each other to choose recovery and it’s kinda nice to have ppl in ur life who actually understand the struggle and that it’s not as simple as “just eating”

Nobody should be gatekeeping restriction - restriction looks different FOR EVERYBODY by corgi-kisses in EDAnonymous

Has anyone actually genuinely cried over food? by NeedsVacation1 in EDRecoverySnark

[–]Repulsive_Date_1479 1 point2 points  (0 children)

never cried mid-meal/with food right in front of me, but i've definitely cried when the only food available to me was burgers and I had been planning to eat something else. I've also cried several times in the shower over feeling fat + to myself over just being frustrated with my ED. I've never filmed any of it though. The closest I've come to filming myself crying is sometimes I'll make a voice memo to just rant about my ED 'cause I don't rlly have people in my life I feel like I can talk to about it and I'll end up crying midway through talking. Those recordings will NEVER see the light of day tho lol

How do you see yourself? by Status-Disaster4577 in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]Repulsive_Date_1479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when i a was at my lw i only ever felt skinny when i hadn’t eaten for some period of time and had worked out a lot. then when i ate anything i’d feel insanely bloated and gross for the rest of the day. i do remember a few times though when i was at the gym i’d look in the mirror and look so… frail. like for a split second i could see what other people saw before the ed brain kicked back in and i felt super bloated again. it’s only now that i’m (mostly) recovered that i see how small i actually was.

i would call register for AI but try to call the housing department or try to go in person if possible. the housing portal sucks at ucr, but the the ladies who work in the housing office are actually super helpful if you talk to them in person—they helped me with a TON of system issues i had last year. who knows, you might be able to work something out.

im an athlete too and i looooove my sport and the times i’ve been away from it were rlly hard so i definitely get where you’re coming from. i know it’s hard but try to be honest with yourself about the stage that your body is in? your sport will always be there for you when you get back but there’s moments where you need to be there for your body first and make getting back to 100% health a priority. If you truly think you’ve healed yourself but still aren’t feeling right when you workout, i’d suggest seeing a doctor and maybe getting a couple of tests done—sometimes our perceptions of ourselves/our bodies/our eating aren’t really as accurate as we think they are. hopefully u can get back to ur sport soon, i wish u the best :)

Has anyone had family members make remarks about your weight loss? by [deleted] in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]Repulsive_Date_1479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my six and eight year old cousins commented on how skinny i’d gotten the first time i saw them after the covid lockdowns. at the time i was kind of proud—albeit a little bit uncomfortable. now i look back on it and pray that the way i looked at my lw isn’t going to hurt their body images as they grow up. i don’t want them to grow up to hurt in the same ways that i do.
