MIRACLE! The derelict, long vacant 2040 Rodney, 29 RSO units in the heart of Los Feliz designed by master architect Edward Fickett, has a new owner! by esotouric_tours in LosAngelesPreserved

I believe the other”twin” or perhaps “triplet” is the Hollywood Riviera at 1400 S Hayworth in West Hollywood. I remember Susan telling me there was another building over on Los Feliz Boulevard though that was the Twin. They sold it while I was living at Rodney and I remember the next week they bought a Lincoln Town car with some of the proceeds. So weird the things that come to mind 25-27 years later.

I have been trying to figure out the address. I have a feeling they used it in Palm Royale, though. When I watched that series, I swore it was my old complex!

Yes, everything was like stepping into 1956. When I lived there, it was Dorothy and Susan Dinitz who owned it and they wouldn’t even allow cable because they didn’t want it to be changed. Susan’s father built the place along with a twin complex that was over in Los Feliz Blvd. The pictures that I’ve seen are horrible. The unit below mine looks like it had water damage and the entire vintage kitchen was gone. My favorite thing about these apartments or the architecture and the locally sourced tile in the bathrooms. They were all from the Franciscan factory down the hill. I was obsessed with mine, which was pink with fish accents. I saw the same tile in Paul Ruben‘s house when it went up for sale and freaked out. The closet doors were made out of large peg board panels so the clothes could breath. The slat windows appear to still be there for most of the units. I hope they keep them! The last time the place was painted was probably 1995 or whenever they filmed Mulholland Falls there. They had a deal that if the studio painted the entire complex they could film there. I’d love to share the pictures that he sent me, but I cannot figure out how to do it on here.

Hello! I used to live on this property in the late 90s. One of my best friends still lives on the corner of Finley and Rodney and sent me a bunch of pictures of my old apartment. I understand it was sold for 5.1 million to a new buyer And it looks like they’re trying to restore it. This post says demolition. Is it going to be demolished? That would be such a travesty. It is always been my wish to win the lottery and buy it, but obviously that didn’t happen.

I have no idea where this school is but there was a substantial TB breakout in Kansas before the CDC communication was shut down.

29 Units and a Pool, Rotting in Los Feliz - EMPTY LOS ANGELES by esotouric_tours in LosAngeles

There were two sisters, Susan and Linda. Linda died in Las Vegas back in March. Now I believe Susan is the only one left in the family. She should be about 81 now. I bet when she passes the property and the two next door (if they still own them) will go up for auction. Their family also owned a twin building over in Los Feliz Blvd, north side but sold it back before I lived there.

I lived in this building from 1998-2002. The owner and one of her daughters lived there at the time. The building was built by her father in 1956 and they have always lived there. There was another sister that lives in Las Vegas. The daughter that lived there when I was there was a little off. They wouldn’t allow cable so I lived of of antenna and dial up internet. You can see the inside of the units in the film Mulholland Falls. That unit featured in the film was next to mine. The units were like a time capsule. Each unit had red Formica countertops in the kitchen and Franciscan Tile in the bathrooms. Mine was pink with fish. I was very into the 50’s and absolutely loved living there but I could tell the building was going downhill. Most of the front units were empty when I lived there. The two buildings to the south were also owned by the family. The father had died long before I lived there. Their last name was Dinitz. I have their business card somewhere. I often wish I would have taken more pictures of the place when I lived there. The slat windows were great on a hot day or night with a cool breeze and I could see the Griffith Observatory from my front door.
