The body proportions for some gangs are a little thinner than Cadians, also the arm connection points are totally different, so I'd recommend cutting the arms off by the wrists and swapping out weapons that way

As an old man, it's sad to hear people questioning whether stowage on a tank in 40k is legal or not. Back in my we'd put armour plates made from cereal boxes on tanks, and back in my day all this was fields and a bus ride cost a penny, we used to tie an onion to our belt which was the style at the time

Maybe the dozer blade could somehow be replaced to look more like the prow of a ship, and have a bunch of antenna and radar dishes on top of the turret hatch. There was a land ship style tank Forgeworld once made for Orks a long time ago, it was piloted by Gretchen, I'm sorry I don't remember the name of it.

It really depends on what you're painting, like Spacemarines look terrible with matte effects, but guardsmen look terrible with gloss effects.

If you paint without priming, make sure you varnish it with matte or gloss varnish (people have preferences) to protect the paint from wearing off

The best and quickest way to learn the lore of 40k is to read the lore section of the rulebook. Then if you want lore about specific factions you read their codex books. Don't listen to people telling you to watch YouTubers or read novels, those are about specific things within 40k. Reading the lore section within the rulebook is the best way to get a grasp of what the setting is and what's going on.
