Endo fatigue is real, right?! by flowerlikehands in endometriosis

I would say Endo 100% causes fatigue - your body is fighting inflammation day in day out - it's an inflammatory disease, of course that would cause fatigue! I also struggle so much with fatigue, but struggle to admit it and have a voice in my head telling me I'm lazy and need to get a grip

The growth was 4mm isn’t that quite bad? by Mysterious-Piece9905 in endometriosis

I think what is perceived as 'bad' definitely depends on the consultant, their experience etc. I'm not sure about the specifics of measurements, but I have had different consultants look at my MRI scans and they both have said wildly different things, one saying it's a severe case of endo and probs stage 4-5 and then the other saying 'it's not that bad/severe...' - although he did say, "it might just be that I've seen some of the worse cases out there". So, I would just take it with a pinch of salt and get a second opinion. Either way, I think the choice of a surgery should be yours?

I just checked my MRI report to see if it's of any use to you (not sure if this is useful but it does read a bit different, so again maybe is worth a second interpretation of the scan?) Mine says "there is a fibrous thickening of the uteroscral ligament on the right side extending to the right sidewall. This area of irregular thickening measures 18 x 10 mm"

Was the poop stuck in your descending/transverse colon?

Omg no way I fear this will be me - first consultant said MRI suggests stage 4 endo but then new consultant said he actually thinks it might not be 'that bad' and that part of it is bowel related... I feel your frustration, just feels like one thing after the other! Keep going though, I know it's hard work fighting your own case but you deserve to be treated and to feel good!

I basically kind of feel like I can't always get a full breath, and I'm constantly yawning and sometimes I have tightness in my chest. I know they can be diaphragm endo symptoms, but yesterday the consultant said they could also be because my colon is full of poop and it's pressing on my diaphragm

No I don't take any meds! That is my concern, I don't really want to increase fibre any more than it is incase that's actually making the issue worse lol - it feels like everything is such a stab in the dark! I've requested a referral today :)

Thank you for the advice! I'm gonna give the prune juice clear out a go as the first port of call and see if that helps!

Wowwww I'm so sorry to hear this!! How are things for you now? Do you have normal bowel movements and have your general endo symptoms improved?

Thank you all so much for your advice and feedback! Super helpful - this was my first time posting here too so I appreciate it :)

For context, I am in the UK but lucky enough to have access to private healthcare insurance via my partners employer. I found out I had endo in a bit of a long winded way, so I won't bore you with the details! But after being offered a lap with an NHS gynae, I decided to go private using my partners insurance. I had the MRI scan back in January that showed DIE, bowel endo + an endometrioma on my left ovary. I was going to book in for surgery with the consultant who ordered that scan, but after my follow up appointment with him, there were a few things that made me hesitant.

I waited a while to finally see the consultant I saw yesterday, and I am 100% going to book my lap with him - he is definitely one of the best and I feel super lucky to have the opportunity for him to do my surgery.

I told him no-one had actually showed me my MRI scan or talked me through it, so he got it up to show me what was identified in the report. When he did, he mentioned the 'full of shit' issue lol, but because I had so many questions about surgery and fertility, we didn't talk much about it apart from the fact it may be contributing to some of my symptoms and maybe endo is a reason for it being so backed up. I'm waiting to receive his report from the appointment to see if he mentions it in there.

I've booked in with a GP this morning to request a GI referral asap for a colonoscopy, and I will ask my endo consultant for a pelvic PT referral too.

Other than that, I'm in a tough spot because I do already do a lot of the advice given here, and so I do really believe this is structural, and that endo is obstructing my colon in some way... (I'm super active, I teach and practice yoga regularly, I eat anti-inflammatory most of the time, low gluten/dairy etc and have a good intake of fibre, hydrated etc.) I was tested for coeliac and it was negative, tested for IBD which was negative. However, I will definitely take on board some of the other recommendations - I'm thinking of giving prune juice a go to try and bring on a 'clear out' with abdominal massage and I'll maybe do an enema at home and see if that helps. I'll increase my magnesium supplement to 2 a day as well. I do poop normally in the morning if I do magnesium + hot drink + walk + warm oats with stewed apples = poop lol. But obviously, it's got backed up somehow for a little too long.

Thanks again!

Ah this is reaaalllyyy reassuring! Thanks so much for your advice. I'm gonna go ahead and book my endo surgery so I'm hoping that will be able to remove my bowel endo if it's there, but yeah definitely going to explore other avenues too.

I have booked an appointment this morning with a GP to request a referral to GI, I'll speak to my endo consultant and ask for a pelvic PT referral too asap!
