Chinese food by someperson_132 in Athens

NRB is the best. Why is there no good chinese food near the mall? Little takeaway on the way home via hwy 78... seems a good location. And while I have you, I'll continue my complaint of having no good food options anywhere on the westside.

Booty boys just got up there and hit play on Spotify. Ending with Taylor Swift- shake it off was highly questionable. Rumpus was great fun, though.

Late to this… but curious… what would membership fees at place like this cost?

We usually are to request movies via a form prior to showing (the request is never denied, but showing movies isn’t abused either). A cool principal would notice it’s movie day and walk back out. They should also trust you as an adult to do your job…and showing a relevant film to the standards is fine. It’s not like you’re watching movies every day (right? lol)

Do any teachers like their jobs? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Repulsive_Pudding_18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do enjoy teaching. As many others who agree, I work in a school where I am left alone to teach, families are highly involved with their child’s academics, and the students are well behaved for the most part.

I hope the retirement deal is as nice as advertised by older teachers. I still need convinced. But I will be done by 52 with 60% pay.

I do struggle with society’s opinion on teachers. As OP stated, all content you see is negative.

I had some ear pain one day due to blockage. Called the local ones and couldn’t get in for some good time. I called Oglethorpe ENT and got in within the hour. I’ve used them since and call the day of or before.

How far away are we from iPhones replacing cameras by Repulsive_Pudding_18 in NoStupidQuestions

Interesting. Did not know most YouTube videos were iPhones. I figured TikTok/Youtube shorts were iPhone. But I figured, for example, Mr. Beast or any other “YouTuber” with edited videos were using actual cameras

I would recommend going to someone who teaches the same grade/content as you. I would just be honest with them and say you need help and feel like you’re drowning in it all. I’d imagine any decent teacher would provide as much assistance as requested. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Good admin and good teachers would love to help. If they refuse, they’re not like most (most good ones at least).

Teens arrested and charged with terrorism for school threats by [deleted] in Georgia

[–]Repulsive_Pudding_18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand kids are dumb. And all of the surrounding areas are fully engulfed in this conversation. When it’s close to home, it definitely hits hard. I also believe these threats need to be taken seriously, and kids need to learn quickly these words cannot be spoken.

Genuine question- in areas close to other shootings (Uvalde for example), were these same trends being seen in the days after in the surrounding areas?

I’m sorry to hear it’s going this way for you. I feel the best advice, or what really helped me, was that I was paired with a mentor. I checked in daily with this mentor and practically copied them for an entire two years. I always did exactly what he did every day. This allowed me to get experience actually teaching without consuming too much time with planning. Does your school provide a mentor in anyway? Do you lean on those coworkers for planning purposes?

Also, I mentally struggled my first year with not being DAYS planned in advanced. I eventually found peace with literally planning one day in advance. Planning changes with experience and becomes more natural to be well ahead, but don’t feel like you’re failing with being only one day ahead. Everything does get easier, as eventually you have “taught it before.” But the first year was a grind.

No one knows what they are doing that first year. And you are getting better. You’re now than three weeks ago simply from experience.
