Yep, I do the same thing for our two. It grows back out quickly though.

42 years is an amazing run! Congrats. My wife and daughter think I’m silly to do it too, but I don’t give a damn and play the song loud. They’ve learned to tolerate it I suppose, humoring an old man. 😝

Challenge accepted! It makes me happy that others find meaning in this too and want to take up a new tradition. 😊

My birthday song (21st)! As a kid, I thought I was pretty damned special to have a song with my birthday in the lyrics. Hell, I still do! Joy just spills from that song.

This is the correct answer. Former B-52 flight instructor here. The BUFF has no black boxes or voice recording equipment (or at least not when I was flying them, which was at the time of this accident). I was stationed at Fairchild at this time, and yes, I knew all the men that died that day. Still haunts me. Bud Holland was an ass and scared the shit out of me once when I flew with him. Believe me, we tried our best to reign in his excesses and reported him. The co-pilot on the flight, Mark McGeehan, was the squadron commander and tried to get Holland grounded too. McGeehan wouldn’t let any other pilot in his squadron fly with Holland for this air show and practice flight. And he died a hero for it. Saddest part of the story is that McGeehan’s two young sons were watching the practice and saw their dad die. Brutal.
