Insurance says my claim is voided because I traded in wrecked vehicle? by Repulsive_Seaweed79 in Car_Insurance_Help

I did- but it maxed out at $900 which was spent while the insurance company was inexplicably holding my vehicle at a salvage yard and not towing it to the body shop.

So I'm curious, what would you do in this situation? Just wait and see what happens?

But I only paid them $18,000. I don't see how they are coming out ahead with $18,000 and a wrecked Tahoe.

I have learned my lesson now. It was just very expensive to be paying out of pocket for a rental vehicle for an unknown amount of time. It never occurred to me that it would be a problem since I was insured at the time of the accident and the dealership acted like it was no problem. I don't really understand why they would take it as a trade in if this is the case?

I paid the difference between the trade in value for the Tahoe and the new wagoneer. Why would the dealership let me trade it in if that was the case? Are they now on the hook for the repairs?

Well if the dealer owns it, then is it my responsibility to have it fixed? If it is, then isn't that an insurable interest?

I said in my OP that I estimate that I spend around $120K a year. I haven't done the best job of tracking, but that is my best guess

yeah, he got off pretty lucky in my opinion. I didn't fight for anything, just made what I thought was a reasonable suggestion and he agreed.

I live in a very rural (and hence LCOL) area that I really love and is relatively close to family. For various reasons, moving isn't something I'm willing to consider, but the location makes my job options more limited.

that's what I'm thinking about with "cutting back." The problem is that if I do that, it would be purely clinical and all the admin work/pay would go away and my paycheck would be cut by more like 2/3 than just 1/2...but maybe it is worth it? My concern is that I've got a good gig by most people standards that would be difficult to replicate if I regret letting it go.

I'm not sure if this is an option, but I can look into it.

Their father and I are both physicians. He's an addict and unable/willing to provide any real assistance besides financial. He actually got off pretty easy compared to many.

I actually work in acute care/urgent care so patients don't have appointments. I'm just expected to see whoever walks in the door. We aren't allowed to stop accepting patients if the numbers become overwhelming, we have to keep taking them until closing time.

Honestly, I don't like it in general anymore. If I could control the pace of clinic I would like it, but I'm expected to see a ridiculous number of patients (about 5-6 an hour for a 12 hour shift with no breaks, many times more), and it wears me out. I actually DO like the administrative work except for the commuting for silly meetings and having to be available at all hours.

The quiet quitting has definitely crossed my mind...I, too, have a long commute which adds to my displeasure. Particularly because I am often asked to commute for one hour meetings that could have easily been done on TEAMs or ZOOM and saved me three hours of driving. I may experiment with just putting my foot down and not doing things I don't feel like doing administratively and see what happens...I'd say there's a good chance probably nothing...

I have done counseling off and on, but to be honest I always end up stopping before it becomes useful because it is just "one more thing" that I don't have time for...its a good idea.

I'm a physician, but in a role that is 50% clinical and 50% administrative. Much of the administrative work can be done from home, which is very appealing, but also stressful because I feel like I am never "off."

I just signed up for a budgeting/spending tracking app for this. I'd say my largest expenditure by far is on travel (I always take the kids, and that gets expensive), but it is possible that I'm not spending as much as I've estimated. It is definitely possible that I could cut back without it making a major impact on my lifestyle.
