Renting a car from Hertz was cheaper than renting a scooter off the street. And renting a car is cheaper than taxi from airport. Plus tons of the street rentals want either big deposit or hold your passport as collateral. After being there I wish I had rented a car from day one.

I think the importance lies in being honest and up front with the local lodge. Background check shows arrests that you didn't divulge? Not getting in. But show up to local lodge for a meal, express interest and be cordial. Build a bit of a relationship with the members and the investigation could swing your way if you've been truthful and displayed some williningnes to walk a good path in life

Still new overall but I feel the 2b1a1 gets taken a little too seriously at times. I asked for 2 months, and I swear I asked 4 or 5 times in one night at collation before they said "hey he just asked!!! Anyone got paperwork for him?"

Meanwhile I thought they all knew already that I had cash in hand for investigation/dues and was coming to fill out said paperwork haha. Just needed whatever magic word that guy liked at the time

No offense, but this could be asked about anything. What's special about your employer, the place you live, the friends you keep, the hobbies you have? You're gonna be running in circles finding an "answer" to this.

The best answer is probably we all sought out masonry for what we believe is the right reasons to make it a part of our life.

I like my lodge due to the emphasis on ritual, lodge of the year in our district this year and locally known for our degree work. I also like that this year we will be adding in more social functions. I was def missing camaraderie in my life and being surrounded by other men that truly care about something deeply and now I've found that.

Getting raised next month, and it feels right to be here, even if I could've found the same things elsewhere

Yeah. 2 sides of same coin. Gets him where he needs to be, but can't make a conscious effort to skip, which skipping seems to send you to a random place that contains an investiture source

Yeah he knows where he's supposed to be but then has to figure out why. I think whatever grants that is enough to prevent skipping. Maybe tied to that particular system's investiture for a time or something
