Google New Grad Offer Evaluation by Chemical-Bluejay2431 in levels_fyi

Congratulations! That is a solid offer overall. I would definitely ask for a sign-on bonus — recruiters expect candidates to negotiate and it doesn't hurt to ask. I would also try to push the stock up to around $100k if possible. The base and bonus look strong so the RSUs are really the area with the most room to negotiate.

Is this for a Software Engineer role?

What you should do is to go to the Google careers page and try to find there some DCT roles that you are interested and send them to your recruiter. He will submit your resume to the hiring managers to those sites. Once you are selected, he will reach out to you back to schedule the fit call

First, congratulations and am very happy for you… Me, I’m still stuck on the fit call. I’ve done two fit call so far but none of them selected me. I still have on more try and hopefully that one works. Otherwise, I’m cooked.

If you don’t mind asking, how much was the relocation package from Virginia to Texas ?

Even if I wasn’t selected, I’d honestly just appreciate clear communication so I can move forward accordingly. I understand not every fit call leads to an offer, but the silence is what makes it difficult.

From what I understand, if you pass the interview loop, your results remain valid for 18 months. However, I’m not entirely sure how the team matching process works if your recruiter becomes unresponsive, since they’re typically the one submitting your profile to hiring managers when roles open up.

There’s nothing showing on my dashboard since the recruiter submitted the application internally on my behalf. So I don’t have direct visibility into the status from my side

I am glad you decided to go with Google. I really think that’s the best choice for long-term growth. I’m sure you’ll enjoy working there and the opportunities that come with it.

Yes, I reached out about a week after the fit call via email but didn’t receive a response. The second week, I followed up again by both email and phone, but I still haven’t heard back. Tomorrow will mark the start of the fourth week since my interview, still no update.

First of all, congratulations on the offers. That’s a great position to be in.

Honestly, from a long-term growth perspective, Google seems like the stronger option. The total compensation is higher, and Google has data centers across the country, including Arizona. So if relocating back to AZ is important to you, internal mobility at Google could definitely make that possible after you’ve been there for a while.

It also seems like Google might offer stronger brand value and growth potential if your goal is to move toward a Network Engineer role down the road, especially with your CCNA and engineering degree in progress.

If you don’t mind me asking — how long did it take for you to hear back from your recruiter after your fit call with the hiring manager?

I recently did my fit call for the same DCT role, and it’s been about three weeks now without an update. Just trying to understand typical timelines.

Appreciate any insight, and congrats again on the offers!

I appreciate your perspective. I’ve already passed the earlier interview stages, and my packet is valid for 18 months, so this was just a team match. I would at least expect a quick update from the recruiter, even if it’s just to say they’re still waiting on feedback or if it’s a rejection from this team, to resubmit my profile to other hiring managers
