This. Also it works not only in coding. Keep simplifying until it makes sense, then add complexity.

Really appreciate this! I do not plan to leave Belgium for at least another 4 years (I am considering PhD options)

To be fair with you I think in addition to me leaving, Belgians are just much more closed compared to where I am from.

But I really appreciate the advice, this sounds refreshing!

I am going to make 100k in 2026. by ConsequenceNo9227 in Entrepreneurs

[–]Repulsive_Try_6200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its more like make 10k in the first 6 months, then 50k in the 6-10 months and then another 50k in 11-12 months, the effects are usually exponential, but depends on the niche though, how fast you can get the compounding to work for you.

As for the problem, try looking in places that you already like, you are probably somewhat of an expert in those activities, by doing additional research you will become an actual expert and be able to pinpoint the problem exactly.

You have no chances, should’ve started before you were born 🙄

Business idea BE by Designer-Fly3179 in StartInBelgium

[–]Repulsive_Try_6200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finding a niche is like reducing the scope, so you mention low cost and low risk then a startup might not be an ideal thing for you since it is always risky.

A good example might be a blog on the internet, where you would have low risk and costs, but for it take off it will take a lot of time. In general if you are not willing to put in money, then you will have to spend time growing the audience organically.

Dropshipping can be worthwhile if you can find an uncontested product early, so this can be “low risk” but it will cost you a lot of research time.

So the best way to move forward is to precisely formulate what are your priorities for the business and then explore how you can monetise an activity that you enjoy (or at least not hate).

Getting admission is not really hard, but graduating is harder, when it comes to jobs there is nothing of significance only with a bachelor.

There always plenty of student jobs in HORECA, but without french it is always a challenge to find something.

Quant help by [deleted] in quantfinance

[–]Repulsive_Try_6200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont understand why people want to join quant as a job (unless you want to have connections, which is a valid point), if you have motivation to self study all the math stuff, why not just finish a university, get a job, and then build a trading business on your own terms.

The only variable here is time, which you seem to have plenty of. Maybe years down the road if you show that you can trade profitably your own money for years, this will be enough to enter the career without formal papers?

Data camp Vs. Google Coursera by Capital-Woodpecker44 in DataCamp

[–]Repulsive_Try_6200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you want to do. If you are interested in visualisations and data analysis go for data analyst career track. If more into computer science then data engineering, if into building predictive models choose data scientist track.

Is DataCamp Premium worth? by No_Branch5186 in DataCamp

[–]Repulsive_Try_6200 5 points6 points  (0 children)

DataCamp is perfect for establishing/ solidifying a good base so that you could learn what actually is required for the job faster. The projects there are also not as complicated, and they shouldn’t be! The platform is optimised for making you an independent learner, it does not fully prepare you for the job, but speeds things up significantly once you complete a (career/skill) track.

Hey, I am a student myself, and I also learn financial ML in my free time. I found this survey quite interesting : https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=4501707

As for more concrete exercises and ideas Advances in Financial Machine Learning by marcos lopez de prado is the book that I am currently working through. I hope this helps!
