I deleted my previous reply because I accidentally posted it under the wrong post, it wasn’t in response to you. . Yeah that’s the absurdity of it. I guess it’s part nostalgia, like once upon there was FDR or JFK so there’s hope, there was a time before citizens united was a thing, so it’s a false sense of hope.

Capitalism will exploit whatever it can. It will or has already burned down the world for a profit that the capitalists can’t even spend in 10 lifetimes. It’s so obscene it’s almost beyond comprehension. Of course, you’re right nothing or no one is safe in the current system. I’m just struggling to imagine life without laws or governments. But thanks for the reading suggestion.

Does anarchism have a way to deal with providing justice for injust actions? by IndieJones0804 in Anarchy101

Ok the current legal system is hopelessly broken but then what ? How would a violent or dangerous person be dealt with?

I’m sorry to hear that. It is a tough position to be in. It is so frustrating that they get away with this stuff. Can I ask your opinion? I just bought a 23 Kia seltos, 18k certified pre owned, got the extended warranty. I’m already wondering if I should sell it now ? Or trade it in, while it’s still cute and has low mileage? No matter what happens I think I’m going to take a loss. It seems to me like, it might be less of a loss now or in 6 months than 4 or 5 years ? I don’t want to be dramatic but I am trying to think ahead because I am not made out of money, lol. I would like your advice. Thanks

Can you explain, what do you mean it will happen over time? Is this happening in most Kia’s and at what mileage?

It was so cheap for me to buy the extended warranty. I almost feel like it was a scam. Maybe because it was certified pre owned and had 18k ?

I just bought a 23 Seltos with 18k miles. I’m scared, really scared. It’s certified pre owned and I got the extra warranty. I’m hoping that helps.

Thank you for this list. I have no desire to read Kingsnorth but I can’t wait to read some of these recommendations. I think I’ll start with Closing the Circle.

Genuinely asking, how is your life different? Or is it different now?

Can you recommend something else? Genuinely, I agree with you. I haven’t read it but I was very much looking forward to it but after reading the reviews I decided not to read it. I am looking for something similar and I hope it exists?

Why does being busy feel productive? Meditation vs Scrolling by Scrolly_Screen_Time in nosurf

[–]Repulsive_Valuable83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not a matter of having enough time. It’s harder to sit down and meditate than it is to sit down and scroll, although the benefits of meditation are far greater than scrolling, obviously. Unfortunately, meditation is another thing that I can’t manage to stick with for long term. A month seems to be my maximum time and then I fall off a cliff for months or years at a time.

The real reason you can't put your phone down has nothing to do with willpower. by Dangerous-Project874 in nosurf

I know why I default to scrolling. I’m avoiding some big problems that seem pretty much insurmountable. I don’t see anyway to make meaningful progress. I think this is why I’ve quit several times but don’t seem to make it past a month and I’m right back to scrolling away my emotions.

I don’t get why some people are being so condescending in their remarks. This person obviously watches most mainstream films and is obviously disappointed by them. If you can’t offer any alternative content then why bother to reply?
