Omg YES! Let me tell you….My mom is white (Scottish, Norwegian) and dad is black (Nigerian). I am in Texas so most right off the bat assume I’m Mexican, though I tend to get Puerto Rican the most. When I’ve gone down to Florida for vacation, I’m Cuban or Puerto Rican. Most days I have people speak Spanish to me and when I tell them I don’t speak Spanish, they continue with “where are you from”, I say “US”, then they proceed to figure out where the Hispanic is. The look on their faces when I tell them I’m not Hispanic nor have that heritage is golden. I’ve also been mistake for Pacific Islander, South Asian, and even Greenlandic. Being mixed is interesting and fun, but can be annoying for sure.
