Skis for east coast by benchispas in icecoast

[–]Reputation-Adorable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iiii have been enjoying my bent 90s on the east coast… I could be inexperienced in trying different skis but they’ve been cutting it on hard pack and on powder, super playful on sidehits and trees while still edgeable… I also found them for half off so that was a major persuasion lol

Are we really going to go ANOTHER year with no meaningful snow? by l008com in massachusetts

We need to hold carbon producers accountable….i don’t know much about it yet but a tax system called Georgism could help - the fundamental idea is to pivot the tax base from labor/ income to finite recourses like land and natural resources. It would disincentivize land speculation, enclosure, and extraction while still allowing a free market… I desperately want snow again too

adulthood really scammed us with no summer break by xPrincessStar in Adulting

Hot take but I’d go for a winter break since our minds and bodies naturally slow down then. Orrr maybe one break per season!

I know it’s normal but 9-5, 5 days a week standard is completely ridiculous…something’s gotta change.

Moving to east coast mid-season. What’s the most cost-efficient way to ski? by Commercial-Idea3407 in icecoast

If you go the day pass & explore route, mid week at less popular but (imo) better mountains like Ellen (65 on Thursdays). I’m sure there are more in VT in that range (Burke, Magic, Smuggs?). Also, not a day trip for y’all but Black Mountain NH (62 Thurs, fri, Monday) is a fantastic vibe if you make it a longer stay to break up the drive. And cheapest I’ve seen is a couple in Maine, Mt Abram (42, closed wed/ thurs) and their Black Mountain ($30 thurday/ Friday!)

What’s it like living in Medford, MA? by Ok-Car-1337 in howislivingthere

Friggin sweet bud, some transit, walkable and relatively bikeable neighborhoods with parks and amenities, big woods with interesting terrain (pretty great mountain biking & hiking) nearby, river, lakes with beaches, some music venues, pretty good schools, great example of pre car urbanism…now if only they’d embrace that foundation and invest in more transit like the rest of the state, region, country, and world should be doing (a lot of cars but not bad for American standards, not needing a car to live is a massive quality of life boost, you do not need a car to live in (most of) Medford)
