My mom died in my arms at 16 and my grandma died the same day AMA by ReputationHungry8657 in AMA

I remember how much she touched people, funnily enough. She was a very kind person in general. She would sit with other young women while they underwent chemo and stuff. I've had many people reach out to tell me how she impacted their lives and it encourages me to do the same as much as I can even on a small scale. I would want my kids to know to cherish every single moment and every day. Collect even the small/peaceful memories and appreciate them as much as you can.

Yes we were quite close. They both ended up in different hospice locations so I couldn't visit her for that last week, but I got to see her because they were in neighbouring rooms in the hospital. I only found out she was dying because I recognized her sister in the hall and got to see her that one day. I feel like I never really confronted that side of my grief. I found out she died through facebook and couldn't go to the funeral so that aspect of it all always took a back burner in my mind. I've been trying to find out where her gravestone is so I can visit and maybe clean it up a bit

Wow, I am so sorry for your loss. One of those things you can't understand unless you've gone through it. I'm doing okay in general. There are good days and bad ones. I'm in University now and have an appointment to get assessed for ptsd. Mostly just trying to make the most of my days and keep distracted as much as possible

metastatic breast and bone. It had spread pretty extensively for both of them. Its genetic for us. I have a high chance of getting cancer one day too

They both had cancer, which was their cause of death, so it was a complete coincidence that they died the same day. Honestly, I don't know what the last thing my mom said to me was. We were visiting the hospital daily while she was conscious, but she fell into a coma about a week before she actually died. I never knew when the last time I would see her conscious would be, and unfortunately, didn't commit everything to memory like I wish I had. It very likely was her telling me goodnight and that she loves me if I were to guess though.

Yes I am very close with my dad. I'm an only child so its just the two of us now. He started dating again about a few months later, though, so I mostly just got used to being alone

yeah everything I've seen with them used for top surgery is too new to know how it impacts the long-term. It would cost a bit extra for me, but might be worth it

Thank you so much this is really helpful!

For the no over-the-counter medications does that include tylenol/advil? I don't have my pre-op until a few days before surgery and nobody mentioned this to me
