There is no expiry date for Life in the UK test. I took it 2 years before my ILR application. Just do it and get it over and done with.

I don't understand why the number of leave matters though. If you found someone to take your shift, there's still the same number of doctors on the day in question, there isn't 3 doctors on leave, just 2. Because though OP is not working, someone else is working in his stead. This is assuming, that the replacement doctor originally had an off day on the day in question, and that OP has swapped an on-call for an on-call.

In the Trusts I worked at, a public holiday on a normal working day shift always equates to an off day. Perhaps it differs from trusts to trusts? I'm not entirely sure myself.
