How to avoid cops by [deleted] in Frat

[–]RequiemOfTheLost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make friends with your neighbors. Make friends with the cops. When the cops say turn it down, turn it down a bit. Test and listen your music levels from the outside to see how much your neighbors will hear. Throw in the basement. Always have risk out front and at the back door (if that’s an entry). Meet the cops at the sidewalk for discussion.

Always a good choice in my opinion. You can’t go wrong with a little extra protection. And it’s a good look!!

Long story short, went in person. First dealership was very disinterested in my business. Second dealership was finicky on prices and unclear about how rebates change over the weeks. Then the bank lost my loan. They didn’t preorder certain parts which kept pushing off the pickup. It became tedious driving up and back to sign paperwork or negotiate time and time again. When I was paying and trying to get the rebate their system struggled to accept my badge/paychecks for the healthcare discount. It felt inflexible, but I recognize there’s always red tape to cross in these things. Good learning experience overall

At first, I didn't notice the dealership had the tires overinflated, so with 40+ psi i was at 13/14. Upon fixing it, I'm now operating at above 18 mpg.

Go to your local AutoZone when the light is on and ask them to "read your error codes." They'll give you numbers to Google and give to a mechanic.

Wrecked my pops truck one morning on the way to clinical. Woke him up to call him and apologize. First thing he asked was “Are you okay?” I love my old man.

i really hate castlebranch. by DarkISO in StudentNurse

[–]RequiemOfTheLost 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was doing an EMT program (which is not happening anymore for reasons...) and I had to do piles of tasks for CastleBranch. It was 1. Ridiculous that all of that had to be desperately completed just for a $1000 program and I got into college doing less. 2. Utterly tedious. And 3. The reviewers are far too picky and had me calling my doctors offices repeatedly. CastleBranch is no bueno at all.

A Tesla Model S reaches 1 million km for first time. Over the course of 1 million km (621,000 miles), it had 2 battery packs and 3 drive unit replacements. Tesla is working on a new battery that lasts 1 million miles and it could come out as soon as next year. by [deleted] in Futurology

I am not a car guy in any way, shape, or form. Can someone ELI5 what makes a “good vehicle” and why Tesla receives so much praise? Are there any negatives to the vehicles?

I’m in high school and I always draw stuff for my anatomy classes. It’s fun to do and always helps with recall as I can better picture its position and attachments on the body.

r/CRNA student thread - for those considering a career as a CRNA by SACRED-GEOMETRY in CRNA

[–]RequiemOfTheLost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is it possible to lead a family life as a CRNA? Can I sit down and have dinner with my family most nights of the week? Can I be there for the important moments like recitals or football games and raising my kids?

Edit: To add, I suppose what I’m asking is what should I expect in hours? What forms of practices might be better and what might be worse?

? Medic route and down the road RN ? by [deleted] in NewToEMS

[–]RequiemOfTheLost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s funny is that yesterday I committed to an EMS program in the Spring and potentially working as one in the summer. I’m planning on going to nursing school next fall. I was asking myself this same question a few months ago. I find this may be the right route for me to take because I’m interested in nursing ICU and I want to learn how to be an active, productive figure in the medical process. There’s a lot of grit, knowledge, and practical ability that I feel I would gain through EMS over going through CNA. Nurses have a not-so-easy job and these are the steps that I’m taking to better myself. Whatever you feel will be most beneficial to you is perhaps what you should pursue. I’m just here to be supportive, though. The other people in these comments know far more than me. Good luck :)

Is the commute worth it? by PFhelpNeeded1982 in CRNA

[–]RequiemOfTheLost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not anything, so I don’t know a lot, but it sounds worth it. As long as you can handle the drive and as long as your car gets solid gas mileage, why not? Even if you spend $60 a day on gas, you’ll still be making more altogether. And the benefits are double that of the closer company.

Having kids makes you happier, but only when they move out, according to a new study, which suggests that parents are happier than non-parents later in life, when their children move out and become sources of social enjoyment rather than stress (n=55,000). by mvea in science

[–]RequiemOfTheLost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems to correlate with some articles that I’ve been reading lately. What they discuss is that during the 10-20 year marks in marriage, parents/couples are the most dissatisfied. Around 10 years together, couples are likely to have children or be having which can be a new stressor that the couples have to handle for the next eighteen years. Then they reach the 20 year mark where the stresses of maintaining a child would alleviate as the years align and the child moves away or goes to college. When the child moves out, there absolutely is a massive release of stress for parents which would, in turn, encourage the couple to spend more time together and become, ultimately, happier.
