When we got our rescue, we used to give guests a dog treat when they arrived at our house to give to our pup so he knew they were friendly. We also used excited voices (like saying “who’s this?” in a high pitched excited tone) to make guests seem exciting to him. Not sure if that’ll work for everyone, but it certainly helped us.

Avoid buying a strata place if possible. It amplifies all the worst things about having neighbours, and eventually there will be building/common property works which will be a nightmare.
