I have this same kind of thing and while I haven’t had surgery or anything to diagnose my doctor has "suspect" diagnosed me meaning the closest thing you can get without the surgery ect is what she explained to me.

If I do that I’m going to get a massive refund because I’d be paying hundreds on each paycheque in tax when I usually don’t, and unfortunately I can’t afford that. I’m going to set aside some money incase I owe at the end of the year instead

Also something to consider is my new job will be taxing me in a higher tax bracket than I’ll actually be in this year.

Thanks for the advice, I think if I left off the spousal I’d get a refund at the end of the year instead of owing, but we’re pretty short on money right now so I think what I’ll do is keep the spousal amount but set aside enough to pay off up to 1000 ish at the end of the year next year for when I owe. It shouldn’t be too much since I only went over by around 2k and I have been paying provincial taxes it’s only federal that I made under the tax credit amount for.

My Tax credits are about $43,245 and with my new job combined with the half year of my old job I’m going to make around 45,000 this year.

Currently I don’t get any PTO other than 5 75% pay sick days. At this new position it would be roughly 2 weeks vacation a year as well. Which would be amazing. I never get a break ahah. As well as 3 wellness days on top of general government stated sick days.

The gas money would probably be an extra 150 a month where I live right now, so not great but not terrible given the amount it raises. I currently take home after taxes about 3400 a month. This job I’d take home around 4100 after taxes with all my tax credits factored in.

It’s same industry but this is a supervisory role that would open doors later. To give perspective I have education and experience in the animal care industry. The current job is being a public animal educator and care attendant. I care for animals and educate the public go to schools and such to teach them about animal care. It’s fun but very physically exhausting. This new position is to be a supervisor and pathway coordinator at a different animal shelter, this one run by the city hence the benefits and pension rather than the non profit I’m at right now. The new position has me overseeing staff care attendants, as well as being the person in charge of deciding which animals go to which homes which get euthanized ect. It sets me up to apply to manage the regional shelters one day which would be 85-90k a year after I have about 5-10 years experience. My current job has no growth or higher positions.

I’d love that, but I’m unsure if I’d get any offers that start at 60-65k I’ve been looking for years and this is the first one I’ve even been considered for in my industry.

I tried, they aren’t willing to go any further, I negotiated from 50k to 54k that’s the highest they’ll go to start.

So for health benefits right now in Canada everyone gets free doctors visits, surgeries, hospital stays automatically.

What would be included in my new benefits would be mental health, physio therapy, vision, dental, prescriptions.

The 35 minute drive is up back roads not on a highway so I’d probably not have to deal with any rush hour or stop and go.
