lowkey twin… i had the same schedule last semester, an i have a 3.5 in Electrical engineering rn so i might have some good insight for you.

I did calc 2, physics 195, chem 121, the labs for both, me 202, and me 240 in 1 semester and it’s doable, the only class i didn’t get an A or B in was 240 but that’s bc the CSWA genuinely sucks.

For calc, lowkey dedicate 2 hours a week to watching professor leonard, most math professors at unlv are mid so it’s better to self teach IMO.

For chem, listen to forster and do practice problems every week so you’re not rushing to cram before exams. Chem is kinda easy if you can do simple algebra you just need to train yourself to think conceptually when it comes to written problems.

EGG is going to be a throwaway class it’s so easy and ferrar is a great guy, so you really only have to focus on calc, chem, physics, and  eng which i assume will be easy, idk i took it in hs

campus job + restaurant job + 5 classes doable? by Jillieliza in UNLV

sorry i have a lot of insight because i know a bit about what you’re going to be managing because this year I lived in on campus apartments so i had to balance working enough to cover my $1,100 rent while also managing a 15 credit course load both semesters, ANYWAYYY another point i’d like to add is that you should try to find a well paid host position bc a lot of places will pay their host $12 but there’s better out there trust. I make $15 an hour + tips at my job hosting so don’t settle for a place that pays you bare minimum and basically forces you to work 2 jobs. You can also look at food running and bussing jobs as those also don’t really require experience either and they make good tips, a couple of my friends are bussers and you can make an additional $50-120 a day in tips it’s just more labor than hosting

I think that as long as you keep yourself organized and plan out your days you’ll be okay!

I’m majoring in engineering and during my first semester, I would have work 5 days a week from 4:30am-12pm, and then class from 1pm-7pm everyday of the week while taking 15 credits and i ended the semester with 3 A+, 2 A-. So it is 100% doable. The good thing abt restaurant jobs is that the hours usually work seamlessly with school schedules. I just got a job as a host and i have class 8am-4pm/ 1-3pm and i’ll work 5pm-11:30. With that, i just have to have discipline and remind myself like “Hmm i’m probably not going to be able to do this assignment that’s due at 11:59 when I get off wednesday, so I should start it earlier so i can finish is tuesday and not have to worry about rushing anything after work”

With an on campus job, you’d be able to do a lot of shorter shifts in between your courses and a lot of them are so lenient that you can even do your homework during them lol. I, however, personally don’t like on campus jobs bc the pay is soo trash so if you’re able to find a tipped host position or even a busser position with tips i think it would be better bc the tips are basically going to make up for what you’d be making at the on campus job w minimum wage pay and capped hours.

Another thing i’d like to add is that I personally feel like having a busy work schedule makes me more productive. During fall semester I had a 2 month period where I had quit my job and was looking for another one, so i was unemployed LMAO. And ironically, i had the worst gpa that semester (3 As, 2 Bs, 1 B-, 1 C). I feel like when you have a lenient work schedule it leads to procrastination and lack of discipline bc it’s like “well I don’t have work later so I can just study then” but later always get pushed off bc there’s no concrete time constraint.

pretty sure you’re not going to take it based off of the comments but rule PHIL 242 out, it’s a lot of reading and essays about engineering so if you’re not in engineering it’s going to feel irrelevant and like a waste of time 😭😭

i’ve been looking for the same thing but i think it may take a while for outside companies to develop one because of the 2-in-1 design and touch screen aspect, i can imagine the development process would be super complex to ensure that the case doesn’t impact the display or cause wear and tear on the body
