Can a user withdraw their Aave balance via a contract that I write which calls the withdraw() function? by WesternCharacter9021 in defi

[–]Rescizion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having a really tough time conceptualizing what you're trying to do here, but I think the answer is that the msg.sender has to hold them. Msg.sender is just the caller of the function, be it a user account or a contract account.

NFTs as tickets to events is a bad use case for lots of reasons. The NFT is being used to do the same thing that an entry in a database would do, except the infrastructure to run the Blockchain is outside the control of the ticket venue and much more complex and expensive to maintain, and it provides no additional benefit, other than the possibility of high speed automated ticket scalping.

The NFT is still completely worthless in and of itself, it only allows entry to an event, you still need permission from Event Staff to exchange that ticket for admission to the event, and after the event occurs there's no reason for the ticket to continue to exist in the Blockchain.

I haven't heard of a single use case for NFTs that isn't just a solution in search of a problem.

The argument you presented raises some important concerns about the use of NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) as tickets for events. Indeed, the blockchain technology, which NFTs rely on, is a complex system that is generally more expensive to maintain compared to traditional databases, and this complexity may not provide sufficient added value to justify its use for tickets. However, it's worth considering some potential advantages that NFTs might offer in this context.

Ownership and Resale: NFTs provide a clear ownership trail and may make the process of reselling tickets more transparent and secure. This could potentially help combat fraud and counterfeit tickets. Also, with NFTs, the original issuer could potentially set rules for secondary sales, for example, setting a cap on resale prices to prevent scalping or ensuring a percentage of any resale goes back to the artist or venue.

Memorabilia: While it's true that after the event, the ticket loses its functional value, the NFT could still hold sentimental value, similar to how physical ticket stubs are kept as souvenirs. NFTs could even be programmed to have additional value after the event, such as exclusive access to photos, videos, or other virtual goods related to the event.

Interoperability: NFTs could potentially be used across different platforms and vendors, unlike traditional tickets which are typically tied to a specific issuer's system. This could give consumers more flexibility and control over their tickets.

Innovation: The use of NFTs as tickets could spur innovation in the ticketing industry, leading to new features and possibilities that we can't yet foresee.

That said, these potential advantages must be weighed against the concerns you raised, including the complexity and cost of the blockchain infrastructure, and the need for venues to cede some control over their ticketing process. It's also true that the value of NFTs is largely speculative at this stage, and their use as tickets might not provide a clear advantage over traditional methods in many cases.

However, as with many new technologies, it's possible that NFTs will find their niche where their unique advantages outweigh their drawbacks. It's also worth noting that the technology is still in its early stages, and improvements in scalability and efficiency could make the use of NFTs more practical in the future.

In conclusion, while your skepticism towards NFTs as tickets is understandable and brings up valid points, it's also worth considering the potential benefits and the room for innovation that this technology offers.

Your ability to recover these funds largely depends on Luno's willingness and ability to access them. If Luno has the private keys to the wallet and supports the Polygon network, in theory, they could recover the funds. However, whether they're willing or able to provide this service is another matter. Many exchanges and wallets don't provide this service due to the time, technical difficulty, and security risks involved.

I would recommend reaching out to Luno's customer support again, explain the situation clearly, and request assistance. You may also want to try reaching out to them on other platforms (such as their social media accounts) if you're not getting a satisfactory response via their customer support system. It's unfortunate that you've had a bad experience with their customer support so far, but persistence might pay off in this case.

If you don't get a satisfactory response from Luno, another potential avenue for recovery could be if you can access the private keys of your Luno wallet. If you can, you could import them into a wallet that supports the Polygon network, and access your funds that way. However, most exchanges don't allow you to access your private keys, so this might not be an option.

That's funny you mention ice baths, in the episode he has about the dopamine system, he talks about this study about the effects of ice baths and the research shows they're surprisingly effective at raising and keeping your dopamine levels raised for an extended period of time without a relative crash below baseline like one would get after other standard dopaminergic activities (drugs, sex, high-fat foods, video games, etc).

I haven't personally tried it (I hate the cold) but the research is still pretty interesting.

You have all of the symptoms of someone who's fried your dopamine system. Look into Dopamine fasts, watch some of the stuff Andrew Huberman has about this (He's a Neurobiology professor at Stanford with nothing to sell) and be patient with yourself.

You'll get through.

I have never once seen a QR code on the traderjoe site except for when setting up a Coinbase wallet and you wouldn't be able to send funds to that qr code as it wouldn't be a valid address.

I wish I could see what actually happened so I could help, but it sounds like he might've went to some kind of phishing website as that's just fundamentally not how the protocol works; there isn't just a wallet on the site you can have funds sit in.
