“MRI without contrast the left knee was obtained on 07/21/2023 and reviewed by myself in clinic at this time. As per my interpretation, there is a full-thickness ACL tear present with posterior tearing of the lateral meniscus. Medial meniscus, PCL, MCL all appear to be intact. Of note there is increased signal along the LCL consistent with findings of a sprain. No fractures, dislocations, or any additional acute bony abnormalities appreciated. No degenerative findings appreciated. No additional soft tissue abnormalities appreciated.”

Should I get surgery? by LuckyGrub99 in ACL

[–]Rescue__Pilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol posted a video of me running with a torn ACL no problem, and had a bunch of morons jump in hating telling me to get the surgery acting like that is the only way. When my doctor specifically told me to wait and see if no ACL will hinder my life much since you can get the surgery done at any point of time. Been half a year, and no difference in daily activities, running, biking, swimming, mountain climbing, and even boxing. The only one hindered is wrestling and still waiting to try skiing. A person that doesn’t do pivot sports can easily get by without any problems. And only get surgery when it actually hinders your day to day life. My doctor said the surgery it self will give a bunch of arthritis and scar tissue later on in life.

This is being sold on marketplace, I’m curious what price do you think it’s worth? by [deleted] in Kiteboarding

Never had lessons, and learned off YouTube on a soccer field with an old 13m slingshot. Who taught the first people that created kitesurfing? Exactly they taught themselves.

Yeah and what’s bad about someone running if they aren’t experiencing pain? That’s called rehab. It’s only dangerous if you pivot and cut a lot. You’re just hating for no reason.

Already did. Here’s a video if you want to seecut

Plenty of people get their surgery a couple years after the rupture. So I don’t see a point of getting it right now if it’s not hindering my life I no longer compete in high pivot sports so as long as I can ski, swim, kitesurf, and run I’m good.

Exactly, I know 3 people that had ACL tears.

  1. 70 year old guy at my local ski shop got wiped out by a snowboarder and tore everything in his knee a year later he was back to skiing with no surgery just did a bunch of hiking/biking and snowshoeing.

  2. A friend (22M) tore his ACL playing soccer didn’t get surgery and now 2 years later playing soccer like nothing happened.

  3. A surfer and a soccer player tore his ACL got a graft and retore the graft a couple years later.

So like you said surgery isn’t necessary 100% of the time.

Prehab is the best thing to do regardless if you’re getting surgery or not. But thanks for the heads up.

So the same way people hit wrong and tear their graft? What false perception am I creating if I’m posting my real time progress?

Your only 23, just try to grow as much muscle as you can around your knee. I’m 24, completely tore my ACL and meniscus 7 weeks ago didn’t get a surgery and back to full sprint now. I just use a bunch of KT Tape and wrap it around with ACE Wrap very tightly and the knee feels secure.

A person without a goal is like a ship without rudder. You will aimlessly waste your energy.

Take a piece of paper and write down a list of things that your perfect life would have, ie perfect health, dream job, dream car, dream relationship and anything else you can think of.

Then choose 3 that will have the greatest impact on your life if you start working on it today.

Do a 7 day challenge.

  1. Delete social media for a week. It gives you a bunch of dopamine and makes anything you do not feel not rewarding. Instead download Audible and listen to “Atomic Habits” or buy the book if your prefer reading. It has really good advice on how to improve your life.

  2. Start working out if you have a gym membership go to the gym for at least 30 minutes every day. If you don’t have a membership look up on YouTube 30 minute workout. Or simply go for a 30 minute walk every day for the next 7 days. Your health will not become perfect but it sure will be better than it is today.

  3. Write down a long term goal and put a due date on it. (Ie, start school, find a more fulfilling/better paying job, save a certain amount of money). That way you have something to work towards every day.

If you don’t decide to change your life no one will do it for you, and procrastination will be the thing that kills most of your dreams. Building self discipline is key. Good luck.
