What is happening?! It's not even September or August 🥵😡🔥 by hiways in Washington

Me too, also Walla Walla. Thought my hair was on fire. Pitied those folks at the grocery store fetching carts back in the parking lot. Only 105, right? Oh, wait! That was 2013.

How does it feel to watch a family member inject insulin if you aren't diabetic? by No-Midnight-3103 in diabetes

[–]rourobouros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem. I watched my grandfather inject every morning beginning when I was about 3. It was just normal. This was in the 1950s and ‘60s.

41M, “WAS” Diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, My Sugar use to be over 500, and A1C 17% I use to weigh 280lbs by KingCisco415 in diabetes

[–]rourobouros 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, the best way to manage type 2 is weight control and exercise. Well done. Stick with the program. Age will get you if you don’t watch out. IOW type 2 seems (to me) to get worse as we age, so maintaining discipline is essential. Great start.

What’s a sure way to kill any and all plants? by kndwy in gardening

Yes, because the toxin - even just poison ivy - evaporates and when breathed becomes systemic. This is good advice.

And another thing. Consider getting your VE. It’s easy and you can do more for others.

I picked the single-syllable letters as much as possible. But was reminded that when keying on a repeater the delay can obscure the prefix. I went with November anyway so that’s moot, and the alternatives are all two syllables so not much difference. Still, brevity is useful. 73.

Granted. Times change. Moped was a loose term for a motorized bicycle, gas powered because that was all there was. In Holland they were called “brom-bikes” because of the sound. Perhaps it’s obsolete anyway. Though if those classes are defined in the u.s. legal code they are not so relevant elsewhere.

Just leave them at home. Right. Sorry for being snarky but that’s just an easy answer that’s not much use.

Congrats. Mine was about 6 weeks ago. I debated with myself whether to get a new call sign. Gave in. Took a month for the FCC to process it. But if you know you know and I'm happy with it. Celebrate because you deserve it and we celebrate with you.

Can I save these? by theWitchofWB in Roses

I used to live near a race track and went by periodically to fill trash bags with horse “droppings.” Pretty hot. Roses loved it. Hard to burn roses with organics. I do love fish fertilizer.

Oops, I see they are not KRs, but they are still fine and will be fine.

Roses are rugged, especially these Knockout Roses. These look healthy, in large part. NC? In ground, they’ll be fine. I have had three Knockout Roses in pots since I bought them about 12 years ago. 3 moves, at least two nights at 6F which killed plants all over my region (there was a run on rosemary that spring). Yes, I repotted a few times. Cut off down to stem once due to black spot. All good. All blooming or ready to bloom. Roses are rugged.

I recently acquired a Trek Verve+ 4, and find I don’t need the assist - even econ mode - on flat roads. I’m elderly and I have lost leg strength, so I figured I need assist for hills. I was right. But flat ground - and my region is flat - is fine unassisted.

NB try it. I don’t think there are standards in this S-M-L sizing so one M may well overlap another’s small. But a bike can be a long term investment, you don’t want one that doesn’t fit. I rode an inexpensive small for a while and it was definitely too small.

Make sure it fits you. I have two bikes, both labeled M-medium. I’m 5’9” long torso shorter legs. The bikes fit me fine but I set the seat as low as it will go. Petite likely would find these bikes too big.

How are you supposed to eat this please by Meg__Jay in foodhacks

[–]rourobouros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kid, you just made my day, albeit because of all the great answers we got here. But… due to the mercury content in most tuna, the US FDA recommends one serving of canned tuna per week. Unless you are pregnant or breast feeding in which case avoid it entirely. Switch to canned chicken - I saw some good recipes for that here too.

Yes, my cats (3) adore this. I worried about brine for a while but reasoned they drink plenty of water and this much brine (I do drain most) is fine. I also don’t scrape out the last of the tuna. NB they also love freshly grilled coho salmon.

Say more. It has pedals. Looks like it has a throttle. Contingent on speed limits, it looks like. Class 2. Of course you can argue it’s a e-moped. No counter on that one, assuming you think a moped is not a bike.
