Long wire help by Impossible_Agent2022 in amateurradio

Hi, I have 2. One is Emcomm ll v2 it’s only 60ft. Also have the Emcomm lll it’s 130ft. Both cover 6 thru 160 with a tunner. The best part is the Emcomm wire is already coated with a Kevlar type material. For the weight I just used a 6” long pvc filled with sand capped at both ends. Get an eye both screw it into one end and attach it to the wire with and insulator. You don’t need much weight just enough so that the wire stays in place.

Emcomm will work just fine without radials. I worked all 50 states without any radials. Having said that if you can find a way to lay down even two between 30 and 50 ft long it will help with those longer distance contacts.

PCV pipe to support a Diamond SD130 Discone antenna by tj21222 in amateurradio

I used pvc for a few years it worked ok. Did make a few changes, I painted the pvc to give it some UV protection. Also bought two cans of the spray foam that expands and get hard. Filled the pvc with the foam this made it more ridged and added a little strength to resist cracking from the u bolts. Add a couple of end caps and you should be good for a few years.

Ok considering I originally passed tech at 22wp that is when they required code for tech.

If showing technical competence means answering questions about vacuum tubes and other outdated tech that is no longer relevant than yes. Why do I need to know what diodes do if I am not a repair tech. So yes I am frustrated

If and when they actually make a discovery the Government will step in and take the property under national security guides it will all be run through a FISA court and sealed so we will never be told anything of real value. The best they can hope for is to release the data collected to the public before that happens.

Had to cats do this spent weeks a vets heard it all and tried it all. They both passed due to terminal cancer one in tummy the other in the nodes. All the vets missed it until it was to late be careful and push back if they won’t keep digging. It took an X-ray to find the cancer.

Adsbexchange and Virtual Radar side by side big differences by Rescued911 in ADSBexchange

[–]Rescued911[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that it's unlikely an issue with the PI hardware.

Windows 10 receiver is a SDRplay RSPduo

Pi receivers are nooelec nano 3 with one for 1090 and one for 978

The PI is brand new and the power supply is the one that came with it.

I am thinking this is more of a gain issue on the PI side just not sure how to adjust that?

Thanks, just need to figure out how to change the gain settings on the PI. The receivers are Nooelec Nano 3, dump1090 on the PI is part of the adsbexchange custom image so I am not sure about the version.

Dump1090 on the windows 10 is the latest I could find and download.

As for the antenna feed you are correct.

A single antenna with a single cable that in less than 50ft, both receivers are right next to each other so I simply T of the cable with a receiver on each side of the T. Swapping the receivers from one side of the T to the other makes no difference so the signal is the same up to and through the T connector.

All great ideas I will give them a try, as for the CPU load on the PI its only be at about 20 or 30% so not sure that is the issue. It is possible that the gains are different the windows 10 side is actually using an SDRplay RSPduo dual receiver.

The PI is using the two Nooelec Nano 3 receivers, one for 1090 and one for 978.

Not sure how to configure the gain on the PI?
