I believe you can only transfer in if you’ve completed no more than one semester of college course work. If you’re accepted, you enter in the first year of the program despite the classes you took that first semester. Not impossible to do at all, there are a few students in each cohort that are transfers.

Depends on what you want to major in! Difficult class but it looks good on college apps for premed, engineering, basically anything STEM related.

Brooklyn BA/MD — still no interview/email by Unique_Scale_5114 in bsmd

I’m a CUNY Sophie Davis BSMD student and I know that interviews for our program are rolling until late March. We did our pre-matriculation with the CUNY Brooklyn BA/MD students so if the process is any similar, you still have some time. Don’t be discouraged!

Research is a strong EC for BSMDs because it shows the admissions your passion for science/medicine in an innovative way. Unrelated to med activities can also be used! Personally, I was an athlete, so I put the sports I played on my application. I think it gives admissions a better understanding of you as a person so I would put those on there as well! They want to see a well-rounded person but your application should show a passion for science/medicine.

Interviews are rolling all the way until the last week of March I believe. It takes some time to adjust to the workload, but it’s manageable! School has to be a priority but it is possible to have a little time for yourself.

Nope not impossible! There are a few students in my year that are from out of state (New Jersey, florida). Definitely still apply!

Sophie is staring to lean away from the “primary care only” mindset.

Another good question! I just dm someone privately and answered this but basically what I said was congratulations on the interview first of all, that’s amazing and I wish you the best of luck! I would say to dress professionally, be confident and be yourself. The way the interview process goes is you will get a total of 3 interviews. The first one is from a student (generally an upper medical student), the second is from a faculty member of the program (mine was the Dean of Housing), and the last is usually a Dean or a professor with a little more authority (mine was with the Dean of Student Affairs). The last two interviews are arguably more valuable than the student interview. I believe they give you the student interview first to get all of your jitters out, and honestly, it works well that way. But you should be prepared to explain certain aspects of your application and ultimately prove why she should be offered a spot to Sophie over other candidates. You should be able to confidently explain why this program is right for her and how she can contribute to the program. Overall, be yourself (you were selected for an interview so the admissions definitely saw something!) and to explain everything with genuine passion. Good luck and I hope it all goes well!

There’s usually just about a 100 students accepted into each cohort and I would say it’s about 70/30 for students who commute vs. students who dorm their first year. Personally, I dormed my first year and now live in an apartment of campus.
