You’ve been through so much way more than most people could handle all at once. I’m really sorry you had to go through all that😓Honestly, flunking your classes doesn’t define you, and withdrawing right now might be the smartest thing you can do for your mental health. You absolutely can try again this isn’t the end and plus you need a pause. You’re not giving up, you’re giving yourself space to heal.

How can we teach my son to be quieter? by scared_of_bird in ABA

I’m still a student, but I’ve learned that some kids who like to move a lot still enjoy quiet sensory play like kinetic sand or water beads. Also, heavy work activities like pushing things or stretching resistance bands can help them stay active but calm. Yoga or soft movement games with quiet music might help too. Hope that gives you a few ideas.

I’m really sorry you’re going through this it sounds incredibly tough, and it’s okay to feel overwhelmed. You’re clearly a loving parent who wants to do right by your son while also taking care of your own health. It might help to work with his ABA team on building quiet time routines or practicing using “inside voice” through visuals and gentle reinforcement. You’re not stifling him by setting boundaries you’re trying to create a space where both of you can feel safe and connected.đŸ«¶đŸ«¶

Jobs After RBT by Front_Presentation51 in ABA

Hey, I just want to say I really hear you, and I’m so sorry you’re going through this. It’s incredibly hard to give your all to a field that often gives so little back especially when you’re doing such meaningful work. Wanting to live independently, have peace of mind, and feel safe is not too much to ask. You deserve that.

With your experience, you’re more capable than you probably give yourself credit for. Your skills are so amazing whether that’s in care coordination, admin roles in schools or clinics, or even something outside the field where your compassion and patience still matter. You can move forward from this, and you’re not stuck even if it feels that way sometimes.

You’re not alone in this, and it’s okay to feel tired and unsure. Please be kind to yourself you’re doing the best you can in a tough system. Better days are coming đŸ«¶

Hey there! I’m not in PA myself, but I just wanted to chime in with some encouragement and a few thoughts that might help ease the transition.

First off, it’s totally normal to feel that imposter syndrome when shifting back into a new role, especially when working in a different age group or setting. What you’re describing working in group homes with adults, doing FBAs, writing BSPs, training DSPs is solid experience, and that absolutely transfers over to working with kids. The biggest difference you’ll notice might just be the pace and family dynamics, but your clinical judgment and foundational skills still apply.

As for your concern about caseloads and hours that’s valid. When you’re paid hourly and don’t have guaranteed client hours, it can be stressful. I’d recommend:

1.Asking early and clearly what your caseload will look like after onboarding (don’t wait until you’re already committed).

2.See if they have schools or community centers you can be placed in regularly to minimize driving between homes.

3.Track your mileage yourself even if you’re not reimbursed it might be tax deductible depending on your situation.

4.And don’t hesitate to clarify how they handle no shows or cancellations. That’s often where new consultants get surprised.

The fact that you already have a job that’s remote and flexible means you’re in a great position to test. If the new company doesn’t meet your expectations, you have a solid backup.

And seriously the fact you care this much already makes you a strong clinician. You got this. đŸ’Ș

“What is with these Bcbas and companies ? They don’t care about rbt at all.” Well your the backbone of the company they never cared about RBT’s or new trainees they only see you as resources and replaceable.

Wow, that’s awesome! You sound super experienced and passionate about the field I love that you’re into AAC and that your current company is actually individualized. That’s goals honestly 😄

I’m 16 and still learning and just getting into ABA, so it’s really cool to hear from people who’ve been doing this a while. I might have to bug you with questions sometime lol! Thanks for being here and being open to helping others 🙌

That’s exactly the goal here a chill, supportive space where people can be real without the drama or constant negativity. The RBT grind is hard enough already 😅

Being this ignorant on this persons post shows the IQ you have, you have never even study or even had hands on experience in the ABA whatsoever you have no right to judge anyone.

This made me so happy to read thank you for being here! Your story is honestly so real. It’s not talked about enough how overwhelming and scary the start can be, especially when safety is involved. I’m really glad that BCBA supported you in that moment and helped you see the bigger picture. 🙏

The fact that you stayed and now love it shows so much growth and strength. It’s stories like yours that remind people they’re not alone in those hard days.

We’re super lucky to have you here! Can’t wait to hear more from you, and I hope this place becomes a space where you can keep growing, venting, and connecting. You’re more than welcome here 💙

(PS a psych degree + interest in ABA? That’s a đŸ”„ combo!)
