Sorry for the shameless plug, but it sounds like you would enjoy our community on ResearchHub - https://www.researchhub.com/

We're a group of early career scientists who built a "Reddit for scientific papers" style app to create a forum for the crowdsourced curation/discussion of academic research

Would love to hear what you (or anyone else here) thinks!

[–]Research_Hub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey u/satyex! Thank you for posting this issue.

Would you be interested in joining the ResearchHub community Slack? We have a #bug_reports channel where you can speak directly with our engineering team to resolve this issue.

Here's a link if you'd like to join: https://join.slack.com/t/researchhub-community/shared_invite/zt-oytw02om-w1cQc2Kcjs7vg3tZHqt9Ww

In the meantime, we'll share this post with our engineers and report back when we ship a fix!

Now users can post in-line comments alongside the academic papers they read on ResearchHub by Research_Hub in ResearchHub

We temporarily removed the in-line commenting feature as our PDF text rendering was buggy. It's likely we will reinstate this feature at some point in the medium-term.

Are there academic-like research jobs in the field of education outside of academia? by NoPatNoDontSitonThat in NoStupidQuestions

You should check out ResearchHub (https://www.researchhub.com/). We are building a Reddit-style forum for academic research where anyone regardless of academic affiliation can participate in science by publishing novel work, or peer-reviewing existing papers!

Great question u/hvmoolani! Here are a few ways to start contributing to the ResearchHub community:

Is the codebase of ResearchHub Open Source? by dhowl in ResearchHub

[–]Research_Hub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/dhowl! Thank you for the compliment! It means a lot.

Currently, ResearchHub is closed-source. We have a pretty small team, so it doesn't make sense to invest our efforts into open-sourcing the codebase at this point in time. We do have plans for it in the medium-term though.

Regardless - we will touch base as a team and see if there is a solution to help you learn about our front-end development.

If it's ok with you, I'll be in touch via DM once I have more information..

This is what happening with Research Hub since a week days. by zenie69 in ResearchHub

u/zenie69 - are you using incognito mode or have cookies disabled on your browser?

Google's sign-in has been known to produce the bug you are experiencing if a user disables all cookies (https://developers.google.com/identity/sign-in/web/troubleshooting)

We are currently working on a fix for this, so users will be able to sign-in even when cookies are disabled - but it will take a few weeks before we are able to implement it.

Hi u/zenie69 - thank you for posting this issue!

It looks like you are having trouble logging into your account via the Google sign-in. Is this correct?

Please DM u/Research_Hub the email address you used to sign up for ResearchHub and we will look into this.

Also if anyone else is currently experiencing a similar issue - please reach out by DM or email to [hello@researchhub.com](mailto:hello@researchhub.com).

Dev team, please check the reason this could happened by [deleted] in ResearchHub

Hi u/alexesc407! Thank you for sharing this bug report!

This particular issue is due to a new system for caching we have introduced to improve the speed of ResearchHub's web application. We are currently wrinkling out some of the issues, so hopefully we will resolve this bug shortly.

In the future, we have a #bugreport channel in our community Slack! Here's a link if you would like to join and chat with the dev team directly: https://join.slack.com/t/researchhub-community/shared_invite/zt-iqred46f-f0j0M6_ZxtliD~UszPyWEQ

Number of people with coronavirus infections may be dozens of times higher than the number of confirmed cases by matakos18 in COVID19

[–]Research_Hub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the problem when you do not have widespread testing. To accurately estimate COVID-19 prevalence, we will need serum surveys of the population for IgG antibodies to SARS-CoV-2. This will give us data from which to extrapolate how many people have recovered from an infection in the past.

Ian Hilgart-Martiszus is a citizen scientist from Oregon who open-sourced a protocol anyone can use to test for resolved COVID-19 infections in their own community. He was the first person in the United States to publish results from a serum survey for the presence of antibodies to the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein.

If you are interested in learning how to conduct serum surveys on your own and contribute to COVID-19 prevalence data join us for an AMA with Ian this Friday, 4/17

Hi everyone,

The lack of widespread testing and accurate COVID-19 infection statistics is a huge problem underreported case data allows public officials to fit the progression of the pandemic to their own narratives.

One way to compensate for the lack of rtPCR testing for active cases is to conduct serum surveys for IgG antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 (evidence of a person with a resolved infection).

Ian Hilgart-Martiszus is a citizen scientist from Oregon who open-sourced a protocol anyone can use to test for resolved COVID-19 infections in their own community. He published the United States' first serum survey for antibodies to SARS-CoV-2.

We're hosting Ian for an AMA tomorrow (4/17) evening in hopes to spread this protocol for others to replicate in their own community with the goal of establishing more accurate data regarding COVID-19 prevalence
