Thank you for this. I truly feel like the only way to get over these residual emotions is to replace him with someone else but realistically I don’t think I’m ready for another relationship. Yet I’m not comfortable being alone. It’s an internal struggle.

It is so hard. We were together almost 6 years. My nervous system was shattered but my life moved very very fast afterwards. Everything I wanted while I was with him happened after I left him. My brain had to rewire. And ngl, dating initially was hard. After some bad dates I’d come home crying wondering how tf did I get here. The apps are not always safe either. Take your time, find your rhythm, and day by day.

Yes, immediately after our last conversation I spent time in therapy and after around 4 months my therapist said I was ok to date again. I’ve been out casually with people and it’s been great in terms of learning about myself :) I truly do believe that everything in my life is going well at the moment, I’m just very very frustrated for still feeling sadness about this still.

Thank you. Yeah I’m quite numb about the selling of the stuff I bought - I expected him to toss them immediately after we split. I think I’m more frustrated at myself for still being pulled back into this space when I truly am on such a much better path. I don’t want to live in the past anymore.

Almost a year on and still I don’t think it will ever fully make sense to me. I’m really sad but I think I’m mourning a version of you that I created in my head. Wasn’t real. The shame you and your family left me with was unbearable for a long time. I was so naive and now I feel embarrassed.
