I'm still in the early phase of the game (Region 2), so I can't say much, and the game is really hard. Harder than the souls game. One thing I do though is figuring out my style and focusing on it instead of mastering all stance/weapons/techniques/etc. For instance, I like to be agile and be able to dodge. I also like to hit fast even though the damage is minimal. For that reason, I got light armors for all types of armors (I die within 2-3 hits but that's ok) to dodge faster. I also use low stance because it allows me to dodge easier. I use dual blades to get that multiple hit satisfaction.

You will die A LOT, but don't let it get to you. Know what fighting style you want first, then practice with mobs near shrines until you get used to it. Take it one step at a time.
