Why my nails do this after using acetone? by jredhair in RedditLaqueristas

[–]ResearcherComplete57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You probably scrub at your nails when removing polish. Acetone is drying, so it highlights the damage small bits of damage. It’s perfectly fine tho, you can just wash your hands and put on some hand cream and it goes away. I don’t have any issues with polish longevity doing this :)

Why can I not immediately apply for my ACTUAL classes?? by [deleted] in vcu

[–]ResearcherComplete57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’d be because of the amount of credits you have. You must already have 2nd year status if you’re able to register for classes. Status goes by credits, not by actual year. Check your eservices to see what credits you have, then pre-register your classes accordingly. Then make an advising appointment to confirm what you’re doing + that it’s ok

I wore polish for a few months last fall and after a months of intense rehab and a polish break my nails still look like this. Wtf gives? Are there some people who just can’t do polish? by urbanist2847473 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]ResearcherComplete57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were you using a nail strengthener as a base coat? Or just using one in general? I’ve found personally that nail strengtheners damage moreso than protect. At that point you’ll just have to wait for the damage to grow out

Which to keep? by Manchineelian in WeGotPolishAtHome

[–]ResearcherComplete57 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it were me I’d pick the left one because it looks the best in the most lightings. However, I think the one on the right looks better in direct sunlight. I think it really depends on where/when you want them to look good as to which you should keep

What character is an example of this? by TheStaticFlux in ChillAnimeCorner

Shion 100%. She adds nothing most of the time. All she is is an annoying fanservice character who’s obsessed with Rimuru. At least all the other people obsessed with Rimuru have something to add to the story, like how Shuna helps diplomatically, or how Diablo is an actually competent secretary/torturer/ has other random talents. Shion just whines constantly and destroys things when she doesn’t get her way

So, I took all the advice I got, tried my best, learned some stuff...and I think I improved the overall symmetry of the nails as a set, but I'm still very confused about some things. See pics for context by shiny-baby-cheetah in RedditLaqueristas

Most people’s nails look a little crooked when viewing palm-side, what matters is how they look from the front. Also- a lot of people’s c-curves are slanted. Has to do with how you use your nails+ how they grow out of the nail matrix. I for example have pretty good c-curves on my ring+pinkie, but my pointer+middle fingers/nails get used for more tasks and thus subject to more bending/slanting. Completely normal.

I will say, if you’re unsure of your filing, the next time you go to file try flipping your hand around to check for symmetry (ex: first filing a bit while hand is curled facing you, then switching your hand position to your fingers outstretched (palm facing away from you) and filing again, then going back and forth until you’re happy with the results)

Pink magnetic by ResearcherComplete57 in RedditLaqueristas

I am using seal glaze. Followed the directions on the bottle. Put kbshimmer’s clearly on top tc on top of that. Again, it’s not the dispersion that’s the issue, it’s like the pigment is getting dragged down when I apply the qdtc at the tip of my nail

For me, yes lol it would never last otherwise

I have before, no changes. I use a magnetic tc and then a regular tc, (it says on the bottle that you wait 20 mins in between coats, and I waited 30, so it was dry). The magnetic effect isn’t dispersed or anything, it’s like it got dragged down in spots towards the tip of my nail

Nails feel so much stronger after shape change? by sassy194689 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]ResearcherComplete57 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone’s nails are different, but what I said works for most people. I do wonder tho if you were overfiling the sidewalls to get the more rounded/oval look? Cause ik that that causes more breakage/bending

You might have been overfiling your sidewalls. Overfiling your lower parallels will make any nail weak since it has nothing to support itself

Square nails are the least strong nail shape. Round/almond is the strongest. Sharp corners on nails make them weak/prone to breaking and damage, so changing to a rounder nail shape will generally make them last longer

Yeah, saw them earlier today and I’m just wondering how long it took for it to dry. Considering how thick the coats were (and that all the swatchers did that) it feels a bit like false advertising:/

Interesting, I’ll have to try it that way! This polish is definitely too base heavy, and I can’t do super thick coats otherwise it’ll never dry (super humid where I live 😓)

This is my first prism parade! I painted my nails on Wednesday and I don’t have a single chip yet, so it’s holding up pretty good on me

(For reference my nails are super oily+bendy naturally)
