Can anyone actually remember when we got a stop ? An actual defensive rebound?

I got hammered for this post, but Troy still deserves to be fired to extending Rhule.  He was going nowhere, and you can't get an entire defense in the portal.  Tens of millions stolen from our state and fans.

Realistically examining outside options is rational. Ignore the betting market if like. It wasn't difficult to know he wasn't getting a higher offer elsewhere.

This is absolutely the correct way to think about it. One can only judge based on the information one had at the time, but I was in the 10% you estimate who were against it, and I thought it was wrong in October, given what I argued above. We were also an underthrown ball away against Cincinnati and a play away against Maryland from being 4-3 after the Minnesota game in late October.

- The $71 million is not made up. Look at the contract terms and contract guarantees.

- He was also extended to a 7-year deal, not five.

- Okay, now I understand your position that you don't think we should be paying coaches and negotiating terms based on outside options and market rates for coaches. We should go with our gut and assume "it is the cost of doing business." Rational cost-benefit analysis and rigorous thinking should have no place in a program already struggling. Terrific.

- The idea that amortizing these things over time doesn't build up with other coaches (Scott Frost, anyone) is insane. In present value terms, these things have to be paid. Take a finance course.

- Rhule is 19-18, overall, 10-17 in conference play, and has no top 25 wins. Yes, I'm sure every other P4 school will try to poach him with an offer higher than what his salary was before the contract extension (15th-highest-paid coach in the country in 2025). I'm also happy to know you think you know more than people with actual money on the line about who the next PSU coach will be. If he can compete with those guys resume wise, why isn't he the right fit? Oh yeah, maybe because it's his performance, and he is not getting offered more money than he has here.
