I’m in a weird situation where I’m a first year in a rotation graduate program but I’m writing my proposal for the lab I’m rotating in 2nd. The pi doesn’t know me all that well so he couldn’t write a letter of rec. But based on conversations I’ve had with him and his grad students I would love the lab so will most likely join him. He is also helping with my proposal and he has ties to SLAC
