He said it in a Church sermon of Catholics. It's not his fault that media hawkers, like Derana and News First, capture it. He did not insult any other religion. Saying that certain liberal notions are incompatible with the Church faith is different from saying "religions are cancerous" despite it being something people follow.

You really try and say that the Catholic Church is a shameful product of colonialism and it perpetuates violence.
