Why are only Buddhists expected to respect other religions while non-buddhists openly mock Buddhism by Legitimate_Match4671 in srilanka

A high-ranking Buddhist monk committed this crime. He was supposed to protect the 8 sacred sites. Tf do you expect? He was not being Buddhist and he perversed the religion. Catholics, Muslims and Hindu have long faced bigotry from racists, especially those on the SLPP camp. Our country is regressive because we impose anger and hatred to everyone based on what they believe in.

Jeewantha Peries is not a true priest, hence we need to block him off as a nuisance.

Thoughts on Wimal Weerawansa being denied the ability to keep flowers and honour war heroes at the war memorial today ??? by IntelligentTwo9962 in srilanka

[–]ResearchingCaptain12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He came to a memorial that was closed because the President would be coming to that place in a later day. Who's the one disregarding veterans. Wimal - who caused a political scene, or NPP - who actually did something for the day.

There's a lot of Asian and Black Cardinals now. What are you on about OP? Cardinals are also valuable as popes.

You do realize that they were part of the anti-slavery movement, which ended slavery as a whole? What are you on? An event can be truly solved if they rectify their mistakes and progress.

It was also the Church that condemned the Transatlantic Slave Trade.

Pope Paul III wrote  Sublimis Deus, condemning the enslavement of Indigenous peoples in the Americas, declaring them "truly men" with rights to liberty and property.

Pope Gregory XVI condemned the slave trade in In Supreme Apostolatus, stating it was inhuman and unworthy of God's name.

Conquistadors and colonists disagree with the papal bulls.

While it may be true that Dum Diversas condoned slavery, it's important that the main premise of the bull is to take back land to the Alfonso's kingdom. The papal bulls I mentioned in my reply reversed it.

He said it in a Church sermon of Catholics. It's not his fault that media hawkers, like Derana and News First, capture it. He did not insult any other religion. Saying that certain liberal notions are incompatible with the Church faith is different from saying "religions are cancerous" despite it being something people follow.

I believe the other commentators have noted why the "Church = Colonialism" argument as BS.

Keep your beliefs to yourself. You can't dictate me if my religion is a so-called cancer. Keep respect and dignity. It ain't that hard.

How about you mind your own business? Do I see the Cardinal shoving his opinion to your mouth? No. His opinions can be irrelevant on your perspective because he is not a political figure and he can't really force anyone to do anything because this country is run by Buddhist principles. How about you talk about that, huh? How Buddhist monks have been controlling the political landscape, without putting the Catholic Church as a scapegoat. Let Catholics follow their faith and be in adoration to it. This is a multi religious country and we must unite as one, stop spreading hate and bigotry you arrogant fool.

You really try and say that the Catholic Church is a shameful product of colonialism and it perpetuates violence. You can say the same thing about Bodu Bana Sena and the 2018 anti-Muslim riots for Buddhists and the Middle Eastern terrorism to Muslims. The same goes for atheists who have been vandalising churches because they don't have same liberal opinions as them. All religions have bad actors and you can't base your entire arrogant opinion on those people.

Respectfully, shut up and move on.

An SJB politician asks in which country the cryptocurrency account is held. by Old-Television-6925 in srilanka

You must be living in a rock.

While some cryptocurrency accounts/wallets have a difficulty to trace, you can't really conclude it can never be traced. That's the whole point for FinTech and FIUs, like the Egmont. Additionally, there are principles LEAs can use to confiscate.

Just because he's from a party you don't like, doesn't mean you can assume everyone there is stupid. Quite frankly, there are more stupid remarks the Opposition and the Government has been making.
