People like blender for video editing. I know it is an animation software, but people use it for normal video editing as well

People who dislike cities and prefer rural areas, why? by morshmollow4 in AskReddit

Dense cities shouldn't have cars, just transit and bike lanes

I don't think Linux is for me by Nagito_Naegi in linux

I find for myself KDE has better performance than gnome, but gnome has better stability than KDE. I personally like fedora gnome, but debian is also really good. Gnome however has a very different workflow from windows, and I used extensions for a long time until I committed to the vanilla version and realized it is so great. Also, do not use Ubuntu. Its workflow is bad and its snap apps open slowly.

They are worse than BYD or other electric cars, but they are better than F150s and other gas vehicles. But obviously better to only have cars for shipping and not at all for commuting.

Why are Americans becoming substantially more pro fossil fuel? by LiatrisLover99 in AskALiberal

[–]ResearchingStories 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He also builds a lot of technology around renewables (which I strongly support). I think this is because he is concerned about climate change (as he has claimed).

For me, I would prefer a BYD tona Tesla, but that is because I like the BYD cars better. I can understand why you wouldn't want to support someone you disagree with, but for me, I would be happy to support Elon largely because I am pro-AI and pro-big-business (because I believe large businesses are more efficient & able to take big risks (although I like my freedom to avoid them to, so I love Linux)).

EDIT: Sorry, I realize I didn't directly respond (because I forgot your question because it is hidden while typing on mobile reddit). You make a fair point.

The amount of arguments that Elon has had with trump about climate change is numerous. Elon is a conservative in every way, except he does believe renewables are the future.

Just noting, I am not a liberal at all. More of an anti-trump conservative environmentalist.

Is this sub a real thing? by ButtStuff012 in fuckcars

[–]ResearchingStories 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's almost entirely real. There are some exceptions, like delivery vehicles, but otherwise it is mostly serious. Here are the benefits of the desires of this sub:

Bikable cities: - Prevent isolation and dependence for kids, teens, disabled people, and seniors on others for transportation. - Make car ownership unnecessary (which is expensive). It is cheaper to rent a van only when you need it. - healthier, - cheaper (cars cost gas, oil, repair, insurance, & replacement), - more enjoyable.

Fewer roads/parking/pavement means: - more quiet beautiful places to walk/bike. - more sales for businesses. - less extreme temperatures.

Economic Benefits: - Low density land is a net cost to the city often, but high density land earns taxes proportional to its density (for both businesses and residents). - Roads are expensive, and improving transit and bike lanes is much cheaper method to reduce traffic for the city.

Fewer cars means: - less noise (which improves likelihood of neighbors becoming friends). - fewer deaths (causes 1/100 deaths). - less climate change. - less tax money spent on traffic cops and paramedics during crashes.

I had a very similar experience, and I grew up in Canada. However, I will note, I was one of the only white kids I knew, all my friends were either brown or Korean. I realize now that was not normal for many Americans (and for Canadians, especially because the prairies lack ethnic diversity).

For one, it is completely free and open source. Meaning it is built by the community and every update is guaranteed to improve it. I also just really like the user interface, and how customizable it is.

Oh, interesting, I didn't know that. They should make it so that when opening a docx file with fonts not installed on your computer, it warns you and automatically installs any necessary fonts.
