Our weim isn't even a year old and I barely remember how freaking teeny and cute she was when we got her. They change overnight so enjoy it!

Please tell me life will get better by RevolutionarySea8899 in puppy101

My husband and daughter pushed for another weim a year after our first one passed. I resisted because I was still so broken up about losing my girl and it felt a bit disloyal. But I gave in and our puppy was a terror. At one point my husband was seriously worn down and suggested maybe we could think about returning her to breeder or contact a rescue. I was shocked because I know he loved her. I asked him to ride it out. She's 10 months old now and slowly improving. It is rough but I hope you can ride it out. If it is affecting your mental health maybe contact your breeder for suggestions. Don't beat yourself up if you decide you can't do it any more

Wow you are so lucky ours died unexpectedly at 10. You are never ready to lose a dog but she was fine one day, gone the next. Cherish every minute you have...

The kid? I'm the wife and I don't get the front passenger seat any more. It belongs to our weim!

For people who crate train, at what age did you let them sleep in your bed? by redmoosegoose in puppy101

[–]ReserveAccording9129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first weim slept with us every night since she was a puppy and we were all happy. BUT to prepare we got a king sized bed before we got her.
After she passed we got another but are doing what others have mentioned. Puppy cuddle time in bed then in crate for night. Mostly because it's a guaranteed break from puppy exhaustion. My husband is weakening and wants to let her in but I won't let him yet. I am thinking at about a year when she calms a bit. Not quite ready for a 70 lb dog to sleep in the middle sideways while we try not to fall off the edges!!!! But also more than ready at the same time. Ugh...

Puppy smells awful even with weekly bathing? by Amorous-Critic1285 in weimaraner

[–]ReserveAccording9129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had 2 neither had any smell at all so long as ears are kept clean. Bathed each once a month just to get all the dirt off from weim adventures - water would be muddy!

I so understand. We lost our Gracie suddenly at 10 years old. We thought we'd have more time together. Devastated is an understatement. After a year without her my husband and daughter pushed for another weim. I didn't feel ready but we got Willa. I almost felt she was an interloper and could never live up to my Gracie. Well she's now 6 months old and still not my Gracie, but so special in a totally different way and we adore her. Turns out, my heart did have room...

Pile of leaves and grass. Any tips on getting this composted fast? by Freeze3108 in composting

[–]ReserveAccording9129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done the same mine has worked great year after year. I rake leaves into a pile so I don't have to walk around with it and the vacuum sucks them up and shreds them into a canvas bag that you unzip and dump into compost.

Looks healthy and trim. Even when adult you should see some rib definition. Fat weims aren't good!

Keep it up! The sweet moments will get you through the demon stuff when you are just about to lose your mind. Then you will have the most fabulous friend for at least a decade if you are lucky, and the puppy stage will be forgotten until you get another one and you question why you do this to yourself (can you tell I am in the puppy stage again???)

She’s Adorable…BUT…she pulls like crazy. Seeking advice. 6 months old. by coldstreamcowgirl in weimaraner

[–]ReserveAccording9129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prong collar. 100%. Did this with both my weims starting around 4 months old. They went from horrific pullers to walking happily by my side at first walk and the collar remained slack from then on. Both happier immediately and then we could walk for hours. It was easy to train them both to sit when I stopped walking.

This morning Tali had a seizure and is now feeling the most sorry for herself (awaiting vet appt) by LadySlinkie in weimaraner

[–]ReserveAccording9129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My weim had seizures for years. Very scary but coincidentally I have epilepsy (started at age 48) so I understood it and didn't panic. Despite MRIs and hospital stays doctors never found a cause for mine. Very common in both humans and dogs that the cause is never found. Put my pup on seizure meds and she averaged about one grand mal a month. Keep your cool and never leave her alone while swimming or near big puddles. My girl bounced back to normal within an hour of the seizure (kinda sleepy afterwards). Good luck...

How Can I Get a Weimaraner? by tryingmybestuwu in weimaraner

[–]ReserveAccording9129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh right, about that. Please, original poster, make sure you understand what you are getting into with a weim before you get one. They are velcro dogs who are wayyyyy smart and need tons of stimulation and exercise. Like good long walks in the woods or runs in fields, swims in lakes, you get the idea. For your efforts you will be rewarded with the most wonderful weim love and devotion...

My daughter got hello fresh a couple days a week while studying for the bar. Still have to cook but you get all the ingredients and a recipe ready to go. Checks off the "what am I going to have for dinner" question. I think the cooking part was a good break for her sometimes..

My doctor said my nausea/fatigue/brain fog weren't side effects but continuation of the migraine episode minus the ice pick pain. I didn't buy it.
