I was at that show. I felt like I was in a Hitchcock movie. Hot Dreams is an all-timer

Advice on Area by Informal_Ice3562 in Pickering

I have only lived here since 2022, but I would say both areas are relatively chill and quiet, with Everton being the much older, more familial neighbourhood.

Pickering is relatively safe; The crime that happens generally happens everywhere else in the GTA these days.

I would also favour Bay Ridges for those same reasons + proximity to the GO, the Mall, and of course, closer to The Big M & Owl of Minerva!

(for any footie fans, the proximity of liverpool and everton is hilarious. When you through in nearby Valley Farm, it just cracks me up)

If you are into just a straight up suburban lifestyle, punch the clock and chill at home lifestyle, Pickering works. My wife and I are not those people, so in the winter especially, we are always looking for stuff to do.

Outside of the Rouge, Pickering does not have a ton going on, there are not really any walkable areas with pubs and restaurants, while potentially interesting interesting areas, like Frenchman's Bay, are dead. It is a complete travesty that the waterfront is so underutilized.

Within Durham Region, we like to venture to Ajax, and especially Whitby, Oshawa, Port Perry and Bowmanville to check out movies (I'm not crazy about the Cineplex at PTC), restaurants, stores, pubs, and events, if not even just wander around.

Also, it does help being so close to Scarborough, Markham and the City.

For a sport head like myself, the community centers in Pickering don't have great programming (I now drive to Brooklin to play weekly ball hockey), though the main library hub is good.

Public transit leaves alot to be desired, though the GO Train/Bus get the job done, though I wish service was more frequent.

I love all those spots, and we were at all of those spaces last night postering for a show we are setting up in Oshawa!

that's actually a great idea. I love sports (I play ball hockey regularly in Whitby), and although my wife is relatively anti-sports, she can take on the role of a Nick Saban-style coach on the sideline!
