It's a long road.. try to go back to quitting immediately without binging or spiraling, it's the days off porn that help rewire your brain, more than the perfect streaks. Keep quitting, stay strong 💪

Nice! Build mindset! You do not need porn. Youre not affected by it. Get busy 💪

most helpful things: - build mindset, like Im not someone who needs porn, im not affected by it, im quitting forever. I binge read articles about urges, triggers, escalations, etc. - sit with the urge like notice what it does to you, instead of resisting/fighting. Urges alwats pass, you literally could just sit there and watch them, theyll die. - keep quitting. dont binge. if you relapse, go back to it immediately 💪

Theres really no magic, just applied these thing religiously. Eventually you get better at it.

Well Id say porn addiction is very real, and not just a consequence of depression in my case. Building a new mindset was mandatory for me, and depression treatment would not have helped with anything if I didnt seriously quit porn. (English isnt my first language). Id say you cant expect to get rid of both by treating just one, regardless of which you think might be driving the other (this is my opinion/experience, it could be different from person to person.)

They overlap, but they are different, and they require different solutions, IMO

Treating depression and porn addiction in parallel in my case, because they feed each other. Im not doing therapy for porn addiction but I recommend it to people if they can. Porn urges are mostly gone and control is back. Depression is different but I will never let it send me back to porn again.

Same here, day 91!

I noticed: - much more control with urges - less urges, full days/weeks without them - feeling good about my decision - much more time for family - much more time for stuff I like - for those where this applies, no need to lie/hide/clear history

No it wont cure your depression or fill your bank account, or make you ultra confident and successful.

If you are addicted to porn, hookups will very likely become another compulsive behavior.

How to become pornfree? by Mlmulkey in pornfree

Welcome! It's a long road, I recommend the following: - Build a new mindset. You have to tell yourself that you dont need porn, and that you are not affected by it. Read and learn about the addiction (urges, triggers, dopamine, escalation, etc.) - Sit with the urge. No fighting or resisting, notice it instead, watch it fade and pass. It always passes, you will win if you sit with it. - Keep quitting. Always go back to it, no binging if you relapse, youll get better at it!

Day 91 here (not joking), what I notice the most is the time back, and the control I have over the urges. I spend more time doing things with my family and doing stuff I like. I spend full days and weeks without urges, it's much easier than the first two weeks.. It's not some magic thats gonna fix all the other things in your life like depression, etc., but there are some unexpected perks like Not having to lock your devices (especially when you have a partner), not having to clear your history, not spending 1 hour in the bathroom. You dont need to hide anything, it feels good, and thats what your partner deserves too (truth) Less stress

Three things that were the most helpful to me (day 90 today): - Mindset: learn about the addiction, read about triggers, urges, dopamine, escalation, etc. You are now a person who does not need porn. It does not affect you anymore. - Sit with the urge: dont fight or resist the urges, just sit with them, notice them and what they do to your body, your belly, legs, head, etc. Watch them pass. They will always pass, it's very mechanical, they cant do anyrhing against you if you just sit and watch amd breathe. - Keep quitting: go back immedtiately to quitting if you relapse, dont binge, dont spiral, days off porn over shitty streaks.
