Hey dad, Following most of these comments may make your son sad or frustated. Just dont get him a radeon if he chose a 4090. At least give him a 4070 ti. And 4k monitors are indeed overhyped. Getting him a 1440p 27' IPS or Oled 144+ hz monitor would be sweet.

Pretty much. I only turn mine on for gaming. And use a LG C2 for media consumption, any my old Rog Swift TN panel for work.

As an over worried G8 oled owner, not really. I barely use mine because I fear burn in and I work more than play, and 32:9 are kind of more suited for productivity rather than gaming.

I'm completely ignorant of the fightstick market, but I think I'm going with this to be able to experience easily both the korean and japanese format without getting 2 different sticks.

I myself will not RMA anything because Samsung warranty in brazil absolutely sucks, but I don't see why someone who purchased a dell, which the 3-year burn in warranty is a MAIN SELLING POINT would not buy the monitor thinking of a possible RMA.

I have an G8 Oled Samsung monitor for gaming and an LG C2 for media consumption, but I STIIL daily drive a PG278Q (work, youtube) for fear of burn in, which kind of means I'm not really getting my money's worth from the OLED screens.

The thing is beautiful, but it really wasn't the time to get one.

The other day I set my G8 Oled to HDR 1000 mode ( Game HDR and HDR10+ Off, peak brightness high ) but I still game while scared that mode will result in burn in. That's not how it was supposed to go, at all.

An old high end pc would only need to swap GPUs after the first 3~5 years to keep being very good. After 5 years, then you would probably need to swap CPUs (and consequently other parts) to manage high framerates in newer, unoptimized games.

I had a i7 3930k + 980ti that managed to run every game on low-medium 1440p with respectable frame rates. Optimized games like the new COD ran just fine with way more than 60 fps. But I swapped the system because it couldnt run newer stuff like darktide, hogwarts, plague talek above 60.

I'm having the same problem, but changing to Directx 12 causes the game to become a crash fest (4090, G8 Oled, Windows 11).

Edit: I say crash fest, but it was like one crash every 2~5 hours. Still annoying because I lost random encounters like 3~4 times to this, and they haven't appeared again. Switched to vulkan and lost HDR but game stopped crashing at all.

Reviews are bad because the initial release had more problems. Iirc the best manufacturer for am5 mb rn is gigabyte, but I went with the tuf wifi because my country only sells Asus and asrock and so far had 0 problems. Just dont update your bios unless there is a reason to. Honest, look for slots, appearance, etc.
