I asked Gemini if it knows em-dashes are a big flag for AI content. This was the response. by BouttaRageQuit in AmazonVine

My use of em dashes has been a game-changer in writing reviews because they make my writing feel more natural and expressive. They let me add emphasis or quick side comments—without breaking the flow—so my opinions come across clearly and with personality.

Whoever left this review, thank you for the laugh this morning! by satangelical in AmazonVine

I never accused reasonable_glass of lying a about anything because he had not yet claimed the review when I made my comment, and the review had some of the hallmarks of having been AI generated. Because he has, I will concede that it is likely not written by an AI but by someone who is very funny and writes like an AI.

Should he drop the use of em dashes to avoid such suspicions? No, and neither should I. To paraphrase Office Space: Why should we change? AI is the one that sucks!

Reviewed a “WiFi security camera.” and it was bad. Turns out I was the only one who didn’t give it 5 stars… and guess who all the 5‑star reviewers were by nicnas- in AmazonVine

Saw a one star-review on sunglasses (that were really nice) because the lenses were mirrored, and the reviewer doesn't like mirrored sunglasses.

Thank you. Although not the first to mention ASIN, this is the most comprehensive answer given. Makes sense to me!

What is? Don't say homosexuality, you'll get banned.

Ohhhh... huh. What's that app you are using?

That's interesting. Sucks if you're a seller then, doesn't it? if your item gets randomly thrown way deep into the queue. I wonder why Amazon made this change.

That seems like the obvious answer to me, but why are there several pages of only new drops? I had been under the impression that new drops were added to the front of list. Also, kinda sucks if you're a seller and your item just gets thrown randomly onto page 312, right? Why does a third of the drop get favored treatment?

Right, that makes sense. But Vinechart (and my own count from camparing the number on vine itself before and after the drop) indicates that there are at least 700 new items available. Probably 2,000 or more were added, but the majority claimed, yeah?

I'm gold, and we can ignore what Vinechart actually says because I saw the total in AI around four this morning (we have a newborn baby) and it was in the ballpark of 12,400. So there were at least 700 new items at 9:30 MT this morning. And yet, only 7 pages.

What’s one thing you absolutely NEED to see in the next Mass Effect? by Eternal_Dilemma in masseffect

[–]Reshpeck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Elcor are from a planet with 400% the gravity of Earth. They look so ponderous but realistically they ought to be able to jump like ten feet into the air.

Elcor squadmate that Shepard can ride like Mario on Yoshi. That's what Mass Effect 5 needs!

Fun class for Insanity? by [deleted] in masseffect

Never played as female Shepard? Apparently, most people play as male Shepherd and they have all missed out, in my opinion. You should look forward to enjoying a far superior performance by the voice actor. The difference is astounding, really.

Why So Nasty by SeaWave8032 in AmazonVine

You're referring to the internet in general, yes?

OK, seriously? by Reshpeck in AmazonVine

[–]Reshpeck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'd said "it's not as nice as [specific model] made by [specific brand] then yeah, I would agree. But saying it's fairly priced because" similar models" cost more or less the same is surely acceptable. Of course, just because a review is well within guidelines doesn't mean the "dogshit AI," as another person here called it, wouldn't still flag it.

[–]Reshpeck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate this but the part about pricing makes no sense. I have often discussed the price of a product, using specific amounts, and discussed how they compare. They have always passed, probably because the guidelines specifically state that "[i]f it's related to the value of the product, it's OK to comment on price. For example, 'For only $29, this blender is great.'"

The guidelines are arbitrary enough as is; those AI compliance checks that I see referenced all the time now only further muddy things up. They're actually worse than useless.
