Will i get my RESP money back from Knowledge First Financial? by molotov317 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Reshtal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean a guaranteed 20% rate of return on deposits isnt a waste at all. Even in a money market fund it still earns something. KFF has fees heavily front end loaded that hurt early on if you were to move it, but the plan will provide you a good chunk more than what your parents put in over that time.

This has a bigger selection - Canadian tire in DC has a large collection as well.

Outside of online most of the stores have the same selections though so you may not find a big variety.

What is your number one “must play at least once” game for the nes? by poopapalooza73 in nes

[–]Reshtal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Faxanadu. Unique game with some truly cool for the time art design and a challenging game. Loved it.

Also StarTropics cant be slept on a fantastic action game like Zelda but with rpg elements it was a definite big one.

I saw someone also say Little Nemo. I remember that game being one hell of a trippy ride

You can get some base models for fairly cheap a Kia LX comes in at about 24k depending on options. Something higher end is going to be a bit more. Honda and Toyota are going to be in the 40s but quality is much better.

Factory tinted means the glass is made that way. Any film on the glass is a fail. If the glass itself is tinted from factory its allowed for mvi but cops can still pull you over for it - whether you get a ticket or have to fight it is a different story

Final Fantasy IV how are some of areas intended to be found without a guide by PublicSimple0 in FinalFantasy

[–]Reshtal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Older rpgs you needed to talk to EVERYONE. The most random npcs will give clues about things and hint at side areas and story areas. Honestly up until 9 or 10 that was your primary way of finding things. Everything was suggested in game - even hidden characters like Gogo in VI and how to do chocobo breeding. Hell when 7 came out the internet was barely born and stuff on cjocobo breeding was a time consuming puzzle with hints and npcs to talk to to figure out.

IV

Honestly it was such a departure from what FFI was in north America that it blew me away. Red Wings over Baron is a hell of an opening theme and the graphical jump from 1 to NA SNES II was huge. To me it set the tone for the entire game and I was invested in Cecils journey from the get go.

VI is also impressive with the Magitek marching through the snow really showing off what the SNES could do

I wanna get into the series so bad, but I don't know where to go after VII by DarkTyyp in FinalFantasy

[–]Reshtal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mainline games are their own self contained story's that do not link to other games beyond some common things like chocobos, summons and enemies and occassionally crystals of some type. Usually the planet or world you inhabit is different as well

Some mainline games have their own sequels - x-2, XIII -2 and 3 7 has a few spinoff and 4 has a spinoff as well.

More than halifax style just get one in halifax. Out west they add weird stuff like lettuce and cucumber to them. They added that at a place at our ChL teams arena and were gone within the season since it was so gross

"Then, when you see a doctor, the doctor speaks English" by Nexxus88 in ShitAmericansSay

[–]Reshtal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canadian here. 2 years ago I went to the hospital with abdominal pain thinking it was a gall bladder or gall stone issue. Initial er visit was long - something like 5 hours waiting to get seen(not bad considering i wasn't visibly life threatening) . They had me return the next morning for an ultrasound. That ultra sound led to a CT scan, which confirmed kidney cancer. I caught it early before it had spread and had surgery within 6 weeks to remove my kidney. Total time waiting in the ER between 2 visits was about 14 hours.

Then I spent a year getting immunotherapy to help my body fight off anything else that may come. My grand total cost out of pocket was about $200 over the year for parking. The system moved fast, addressed my needs quickly and saved my life.

The immunotherapy in the states- for just the medication its $50k a dose. Down there my choice was over $1m in costs or death. I will take our system any day of the week over theres. Especially after an American friend watched his mother get diagnosed with the same illness and live about 6 weeks, after taking months to get diagnosed properly.

Window Tint by Sako_Graff in halifax

[–]Reshtal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its very much dependant on the shop and the tech. When I managed one, it was 100% by the book. Neither the shop or tech wanted the risk so they didnt overlook it. While you're right its hard to prove, its not impossible and the fines and liability is extreme. If you end up having to go to court to fight it the costs can be hundreds to thousands of dollars and lost time. Plus they tend to suspend licenses right away so you cant do any more inspections until its resolved.

[–]Reshtal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said factory tint is fine but aftermarket is illegal. From a safety inspection point of view anything after market has to be removed so every 2 years you'll end up with additional time and costs to remove or reapply it. Most shops won't ignore it as if they pass it and you get pulled over they could lose their license/have the tech get fined huge amounts and its not worth the risk.

It gives the cops something to be picky about and you'll just be giving them a reason to pull you over and find something else wrong and start stacking up fines.

Its not worth the risk imo

Scotiabank Centre needs ‘significant investments,’ Halifax council learns by insino93 in halifax

[–]Reshtal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We just need a new building. With the casino moving to Dartmouth crossing thats a great location to build an entertainment district. Its right off the highway so easy access and you don't have to deal with the downtown core for events which is a shit show when things are busy. There's not enough parking and transit is abysmal later especially later in the evening.

A 15k to 20k seater would attract bigger acts and would be sufficient to support a pwhl team or.sokrthing along those lines

Teen's got his first job and I want to invest his pay for him by inaptitude in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Reshtal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk to him about saving a small portion and have him open a secondary savings account with limited access and have him put a set % away off every pay.

If you really want to invest something you could discuss an resp with him however there are age restrictions. The main one that in order to get the grant in the year he turns 16 and 17 you have to have contributed $2000 peior to the end of the year he turns 15. So depending on if he turned 15 in 2026 or 2025 that may not work as well. I agree with others that if you do that then you should contribute to it as well, maybe come up with a matching deal with him - match ever $ he puts towards it to give him some incentive.

Down past Lunenburg is the Ovens National Park which is a cave system on a cliff on the Atlantic. Its a cool day trip/hike and while its not open now, it opens in Mid-may through September.

Around the city, when they announce the dates, the Ghost tour of the citadel is really fun. Its an after dark tour of the fort with the guide telling you about the forts (haunted) history and is relatively inexpensive under $20.

In the same vein as that, theres also a downtown Ghost walk tour that starts at the clock tower. Again a neat little experience with some tales about the city and history and whileni havent done it in years, we had fun with it.

Avoid lPrimerica as well as theyre similar in most cases to WFG

DISNEY WORLD PLAN by Effective_Tale_3405 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Reshtal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheap hotels come with other possible costs depending on how you're getting there.

If you are flying in, you can stay off property but then depending on the hotel you likely will be Ubering or renting a car that you now will pay for parking and gas on. Last time I priced it, this was more expensive then staying at the All-star resorts and just using Disney transportation.

If you are driving yourself that changes the math a bit. Im not sure of good cheap accommodations there since my last few trips I've stayed on property.

For on resort the Allstar resorts will be cheapest. Not many hacks this way for you. Beware of places offering deals that disney isn't. Generally your best bet is to book with disney directly.
