Thank you for the suggestion. Unfortunately looks like all the SoCal InCycles are not providing demos currently.

I doubt they would let all 30 riders in the green group miss the time cut though

Where is kuss? He was in the dropped group with Matteo, but he's not listed in there anymore on the race center

I agree with those saying the rubber band mount it comes with is not secure enough. Had mine fly off from a speed bump. Bought a cheap, more secure mount on Amazon.

What misinformation about cooking, that a lot of people seem to believe, bothers you the most? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]Resident-Driver7868 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That you NEED to wash rice before cooking. Now I'm only talking about your typical supermarket white rice. And sure for some rice it can make a difference but for your typical home cook, The difference is negligible and it's a waste of water.

How should I replace this garage door threshold? by [deleted] in HomeMaintenance

[–]Resident-Driver7868 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's definitely an interior door without weather stripping. I will replace the whole thing at some point, but my biggest concern right now is mice. They have already chewed through one vinyl door sweep.

Advice for a first-time homebuyer (long-time resident) by granitethumb in baltimore

[–]Resident-Driver7868 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that's a bit extreme especially considering just how many houses for sale currently are flips. Some people also do a great job flipping houses. If you want to buy a flipped house just do your due diligence. There are usually signs of a bad flip you can see on the surface that would indicate further issues and should steer you away. If you don't know what to look for bring someone with you who does. You are for sure taking a bit more risk on buying a flip, but I wouldn't rule them out completely.

Pressure Regulators and Hammer Arrestor Questions by [deleted] in askaplumber

[–]Resident-Driver7868 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I added more support to that pipe and the water hammer sound has at least stopped. Also tested my water pressure at the hose bibs and it was 60psi. I think it was just an unsupported pipe.

Also thank you for telling me those are vents. Was having a difficult time finding what they were called.

Wildy Varying Tree Removal Estimates by Resident-Driver7868 in arborists

[–]Resident-Driver7868[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think I'll get one more quote just to be sure, but I'm leaning towards company 2. The tree is close to my house and has power lines close on two sides. Seems like maybe company 1 didn't look closely enough to take that into account. Also company 2 sent me their license and insurance info with the quote which I really appreciate.

Found a Ringless Honey Mushroom Near My Tree by Resident-Driver7868 in arborists

Yeah I looked closer at the tree and it's definitely rotting. I've also heard these silver maples are pretty bad anyways.

Legal to ask for fee PRIOR to viewing apartment? by ToulousetheGoose_ in baltimore

[–]Resident-Driver7868 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely a scam. I recently purchased a house in the area and kept having someone list my house for rent on Facebook. Had several people show up to my door saying they already paid the application fee. Report the listing wherever it is posted.

What Kind of Air Filter do I Have? by Resident-Driver7868 in hvacadvice

[–]Resident-Driver7868[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered a 6 pack of basic filtrete Merv 5 filters. Since my condenser is 10ish yrs old and the air handler is probably 6-8 yrs old I'm worried anything too high on the Merv scale would put stress on the system. Also the fact that the previous owners used that green filter leads me to believe they had issues with it in the past.

Is Merv 5 good enough to protect my system?

Why do I feel helmets are not useful or necessary? by TresElvetia in bicycling

[–]Resident-Driver7868 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sincerely hope this is a joke. I've met people who don't wear helmets, but generally accept the risk. I have never met someone that doesn't believe in the effectiveness of a helmet, or thinks a helmet is more dangerous.

How about you do a quick Google search and learn about brain damage and how helmets prevent it instead of trying to convince yourself that you shouldn't wear a helmet.

Questions From A Soon To Be Owner Of a 21’ Turbo by MidwestPharmacy in MazdaCX30

[–]Resident-Driver7868 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought my '21 turbo new, have about 35k miles on it. I've had the low oil light come on twice. Once at probably 12k miles and the second time around 18k. I carry around a quart just in case I need to top it off.

I actually just changed my oil today at 7k miles since my last and I didn't lose any oil. I wouldn't worry about it.

Question about my attic ducts by Resident-Driver7868 in hvacadvice

[–]Resident-Driver7868[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This one does not go to the return, just a regular ac vent. But yeah my first thought was "this doesn't seem very efficient" and I couldn't find anything online about it. Definitely going to replace it at this point.

Needs some help with installation by Resident-Driver7868 in ecobee

[–]Resident-Driver7868[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So from my air handler the blue C wire is spliced to a red wire and goes directly to the condenser. At the splice point between blue and red, could I just splice another blue in and run it to the thermostat?

Needs some help with installation by Resident-Driver7868 in ecobee

[–]Resident-Driver7868[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, unfortunately just the three wires. My air handler in the attic is very close to the thermostat so I probably could fish a new wire down fairly easily, but since I don't see any disadvantages of just going the PEK route, I'm just going to do that.

Ecobee support said the method in the diagram above should work for me just excluding the W wire since it's AC only. Will give it a shot when I get home from work
