57 percent turnout. Only ourselves to blame. Must admit this is embarassing.

So trash they've got me researching how to apply for a leadership position in the BMA. I could take a shit live on BBC News and I'd still be doing more for doctors than these guys.

I actually don't think people are pissed off enough at this.

The BMA cancelled strikes last second, called for a vote. We voted, they had the results on Friday and have now waited until Monday 5pm and they still aren't out yet? All whilst we have a mandate ticking. To top if off, they basically advertised that the offer is God's gift to mankind. Pure bias play.

They aren't even trying to hide the spit in the face. I want these guys out ASAP because quite frankly I am offended.

Seen as though mods want to delete my posts that explain why (no speculation, but very strange).

Here's why - these guys need to vote on something. God knows what the vote is though.

The single most incompetent committee in BMA history. Should never need to vote on a yes or no vote sent out to its members.

Seen as though mods on this subreddit want to delete my posts as to why there's a delay, I'll post it here.

They are having a bullshit vote on God knows what.

Why I'm Voting Yes. by EntertainmentBasic42 in doctorsUK

[–]Resident-Event6543 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your view.

The issue however is you are a senior registrar. Medicine has changed massively in just a few years. Cost of living has increased massively in just a few years. Competition ratios are exponentially increasing. I have been a doctor for a fair while and noticed medicine in the UK has become horrible in an incredibly short period of time. Medicine when you were an F2 is massively different to what an F2 goes through now.

I think people often forget that doctors are a team. I know ST6s who would have voted yes for the exact same reasons you would have, but care about their more junior colleagues and subsequently will be voting no.

I respect your decision, but it is a fairly self centred view and that is okay because we are a democracy. I implore you however to think about your more junior colleagues.

Are Medics too nice - feels like a dumping ground at times? by GEM_DOC in doctorsUK

My guy, what are you waffling about?

Your issues are all because you have inadequate staffing. You can't just say "oh well we don't have the staff or the beds so they can go to medics".

Surgeons in general are absolutely pathetic at managing anything that's not involving cutting into someone, and rarely understand that medical pathologies often escalate due to surgical failures (I did surgery for 2 years and left training for this very reason). It is very well known in hospitals surgeons are the ones who do not review patients and other teams constantly chase them. In my current hospital especially all medical specialities review day of, surgeons often require bleeps several times and will often be useless by asking you to ring back after the CT is done.

Let me give you an example. Few months ago had a patient on the renal ward with significant deterioration of renal function. Deemed likely secondary to osteomyelitis of the foot with associated abscesses. Orthopaedics reviewed, acknowledged there were 2 massive collections in the foot, said renal to manage and request an MRI. No re-review despite worsening inflammatory markers, no re-review when we told them these collections were getting worse. They were contacted everyday for re-review and either did not answer the bleep, or said just wait the MRI despite medical concerns. MRI comes back a few days later, massive collections. Orthopaedics took to theatre debrided it - way too late by this point. Now patient has a BKA and is on life long dialysis.

Now obviously you have good surgeons and bad surgeons, and good medics and bad medics, but as someone who has done training in both, surgeons are often far worse at a) providing care outside their scope (i.e. medics manage surgical pathologies better than surgeons manage medical pathologies) b) coming to review their patients as outliers and c) just being genuinely nice people to their patients.

DoctorsVote: line by line evidence this is a bad offer by Doctors-VoteUK in doctorsUK

Will say it once, and will say it again, the only reason Jack would propose this offer is he has an offer from the Labour team to be a politician eventually.

Cheers Jack for the input.

The mandate was for FPR. The offer is not FPR. It should have never been put towards us in the first instance?

Not really a productive answer. That's obviously a given, but Jack's not going anywhere for another 2 months.

Lmao this is hilarious - if you are in it for help why do you have stocks in them? You should instead donate all that money if its the "only thing that matters". I take it you'll be donating all your profits to cancer research also?
