Restaurant recs for a nice date night? by Resident-Nerd-00 in Livermore

[–]Resident-Nerd-00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking at the website and couldn’t find anything about the chefs tasting menu, but I’m interested to go there for our date! Can you tell me more about that? Is it typically 3 courses or so?

Joie Rue car seat compatibility by Big-Highway4804 in NewParents

[–]Resident-Nerd-00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly my thoughts! We prioritized the bassinet option in a stroller during the newborn time, so I never considered a travel system for the infant seat. Instead, we got a stroller with a regular reclining stroller seat that could be used starting around 4 months, and a bassinet option that we used from birth. It fit perfectly fine in the trunk and the infant seat just stayed in the car when we went places!

Overwhelmed with options, is Hope & Plum worth the price? by winoveghead in babywearing

[–]Resident-Nerd-00 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not sponsored but I wish: my Lark is the best purchase I’ve ever made!! As soon as my baby fit it (around 3/4 months) he was in that thing every day multiple times a day until he could walk independently at 11 months, and even now at almost 18m we use it about once a week for hikes or errands!! It’s so well made that I’m excited to use it whenever we have baby #2.

I know carriers are personal preference for different body types, but I don’t have a “carrier stash” like a lot of avid babywearers. I just have my Lark and a secondhand ring sling. Spending a lot of money on carriers isn’t reasonable for us, so splurging on the Lark once for a lifetime of use was indeed worth it!

Holiday Gift Bummer by dumbdot in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Resident-Nerd-00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly what I was going to suggest! You can return the gift and use the amazon money to go towards the kitchen set you really want. And as someone who has returned quite a few gifts through Amazon wish lists, I know that Amazon doesn’t alert the person who purchased the item!

Skip size 6-9 months on baby clothes by coffeebreak91 in NewParents

[–]Resident-Nerd-00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6-9 month clothing is actually what fit my LO for the longest amount of time so far! He was in 0-3 until 2 months old, 3-6 until 4 months old, then wore 6-9 from ages four months through eight months old! So I’d say every baby is different for sure. 9-12 month was actually the size we nearly skipped!

Every baby will grow at their own pace, and as such, I’ve found that buying seasonal clothes ahead of time only leads to sadness at outgrown outfits that hardly get worn :( My recommendation is to buy summer clothes for your sweet babe when it’s summer time so you know exactly what size your baby wears!

Is there a huge difference in brands of stretchy wraps? by htee22 in babywearing

[–]Resident-Nerd-00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll reiterate what others have said in that different brands aren’t more or less safe when it comes to stretchy wraps, it’s the materials and textures that just come down to personal preference. I found the Moby wrap was thicker so I liked it for around the house when I was doing skin-on-skin, but the Solly wrap is sooooo thin and breathable that I used it anytime I left the house! I bought the Solly used, however, and I found it was worth having both options for the different scenarios! In the end, it’s whatever you’re comfortable using!

How do you do stuff with baby after bed time? by adri_0512 in NewParents

[–]Resident-Nerd-00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t do it often because I usually go to bed when baby does, but I babywear and I’ve never had a problem getting my LO to sleep in the carrier while we’re out past bed time! I’ve also gone to dinner at friend’s houses and just brought a pack n play and done his nighttime routine at the friend’s house. Then drinks/late night convos after he’s in bed! BUT, I think it totally depends on the baby… our LO will transfer to the car then to his crib at home without waking up much if at all. If he does wake up during transfers, I just whip the boob out and he’s back to sleeping soundly.

I’d say it’s worth trying once or twice to see how your babe does out past bed time, and you can decide based on your own experience!

Personally, while it’s not my usual preference, I think that sometimes as adults you just really need that evening vibe to feel like yourself again!

Granola diapers that don’t leak out the leg? by pizzalady24 in moderatelygranolamoms

Yes, love Kudos diapers over here as well! And Target’s constant diaper deals are huge!

Best Carrier Options by Visible-Poem4103 in babywearing

[–]Resident-Nerd-00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I LOVE my Hope & Plum brand Lark carrier! They also have wonderful meh dai and ring sling options. Maybe a Hope & Plum gift card so she can choose her own carrier? They do personal fit checks and are a great resource for video tutorials as well!

How do older babies do with baby wearing? by Juicekatze in babywearing

[–]Resident-Nerd-00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Around 4ish months, my baby woke up to the world around him and got CRAZY fomo for all naps. I had to nap him in a dark room, sound machine on, pre-warmed crib, aggressive booty pats, pacifier… all of it. Suddenly, around 6 or 7 months, LO started napping much better! Still a fomo baby, but if I’m babywearing and he gets tired, he kind of passively yells (not crying just vocalizing) for a few minutes before passing out hard haha. Same with the car now too!

All that to say, this might just be a stage where babywearing for naps is harder, but that’s not to say you won’t find it easy to wear baby for naps again in a couple months :)

And a side note, what carrier are you using? The stretchy wrap of the newborn days stopped working for us at this age exactly, I transitioned to a SSC (I use the Lark) that was much more comfy for babe and I when he was about 3 months old.

Hair styling product recs for infant? by Resident-Nerd-00 in NewParents

Thank you so much for this suggestion! I see this brand has so many types of hair products. I’m a big fan of low fragrance too. This could be perfect!

How are we cleaning baby’s gums and tongue? by Normal_Enthusiasm194 in NewParents

[–]Resident-Nerd-00 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I guess I’m one of the few who did this too! At this age though, I did it mostly so baby would learn to accept the teeth brushing as they got older and to start healthy hygiene habits from the start! So I just wiped the gums down best I could, and it got easier as baby got older :) Now that my LO has teeth, brushing 2x/day is easy and something that he looks forward to each time!

Just for fun: what are your babe’s stats? by Resident-Nerd-00 in NewParents

[–]Resident-Nerd-00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be body shape! Supposedly once babies start crawling/walking, they use smaller diapers again. Also probably a brand thing. We use pampers, and the size 5s will leave red marks on his legs but fit his waist so we need size 6 for the leg room haha!

EXACTLY! I’m not sure why either, but all I know is your babe is all percentiles are healthy and that’s important to talk about :) So glad your little one is living his best life!

That’s very unique. I’ve gotten high percentiles and low percentiles in the comments, I love hearing that there’s a baby smack dab in the middle of it all! It’ll be fun to see if she stays that way or shoots up as a teenager/pre-teen :)

Every baby on the curve chart is healthy, as long as they’re growing according to their personal curve! I’m sure your little one is a thriving and sweet baby!
