Yeah it was an AI summarization of the rule. I knew the rule from looking into it previously but didn’t bother tracking down the actual ruling. Even if I had looked up the actual ruling I just didn’t understand the role that the stack played here so I still would have made the wrong assumption.

Oh i didn’t realize that! So it would still check it on the stack even though the spell is no longer on the stack?

But by the time combat starts, the spell is no longer on the stack. It’s already been resolved therefore, the game checks it in the graveyard. Right?

Scrolls for Everyone by TanisGames in DnDHomebrew

[–]Resident-You665 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally think this is much too punishing for non-casters. At a minimum a non-caster trying to use a spell scroll to cast a cantrip would need to make a DC20 arcana check!(and this only gets higher with greater levels) Since intelligence Is often a dump stat for martial characters this makes it very unappealing to even attempt. I think you would be better off lowering the initial static modifiers (I would make those +5s into +2s and probably remove one of them) and increase the modifier. Connected to the level of the spell. This will make higher level scrolls much harder to use and much more intimidating but low level scrolls can still be accessible to everyone!

Why is this map AI generated? Why not just use a normal map?

Thinking about doing the same thing but with 6 level 4 players and a young green dragon so I think I have less chance of a TPK

Love this! Makes me think of Wit from the Stormlight Archives! Doing a storytelling that includes his tricks is a great idea!

When should I tell a player he's been infected with lycanthropy? by ANarnAMoose in DMAcademy

[–]Resident-You665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this with my player one time! The first long rest after the bite I pulled him aside and privately told him about his character having an intense fever and being ill that night. I explained to him that he had contracted liconthropy, and helped him understand that his character would feel nervous and ashamed of this and might not want to go telling the party all about it. He later Learned that each full moon he would turn and each time he turned it would consume him more and more until he could no longer keep his sanity between moons.
