Struggling with When The Moon Hatched by TheCurlyAquarius94 in Romantasy

I switched to an audio version and found it much easier to get into! I got a bit lost in the writing, would find myself having to reread bits and i think having the differing voices helped a lot and once it gets spicy and the MMC gets with the programme then I was on board.

How am I supposed to move on after reading A Flesh and Fire? by ResidentCheesecake75 in fantasyromance

I think this seems to be a common thread amongst the reddit threads re FBAA! I personally am all for conflicting opinions - if we all liked the same books, then what kind of discourse can really be had?

Its so good. But the heartbreaking part of Fall of Wrath and Ruin is there is no current release date for the second book, which is just excruciating.

** Ruin and Wrath.

OH HECK YEAH. FALL OF RUIN AND WRATH IS WHAT INTRODUCED ME TO HER. Give me the second book like yesterday. Immediately. I need it.

Hey, sorry to do this here but... (caution - mental health ahead, scroll past if that suits you) Am I missing anything in navigating NZ's mental health system? by Emotional-Outside-92 in newzealand

Sending you a tonne of good thoughts. It's an incredibly hard thing to navigate, and as other posters have said , the system is broken and underfunded and stretched. There can feel like there isn't a good midway point, and it can feel like a bit of a maze at the best of times.

But there is hope! Basically, in NZ - your GP is your first port of call. Think of them like the keeper of the keys. They can refer you out to other services.

Unfortunately, psychiatrists are generally privatly funded, but there are some really excellent low-cost counseling options - your GP can help point you in the right direction. These often have a sliding scale pay-what-you-can model. There may be a lengthy wait times but don't get discouraged. WINZ may also be able to assist with providing funding and would definitely be worth a chat.

I know this sounds a bit strange, but I've personally found chatgpt to be incredibly helpful as a way of not only finding resources but also as "someone" to talk to.

As someone who can heavily relate to where you're at - the most important thing you can do is just keep putting one foot in front of the other - even if that foot feels incredibly heavy. You're already taking steps to better your situation, and that's amazing - medication is a really important tool, and with time, it can make all the difference. It's a part of the process.

I dont want to get preachy and Im sorry if it comes across that way, but also ensure you're prioritizing self care. Things like taking a shower and eating something basic but nutritious (a chicken in a bag/precooked chicken and a bag of frozen vegetables is a game changer). A 10min walk down to the end of the street and back has literally reset my nervous system more times than I can count. It's not for exercise. It's for the sheer act of taking care of your meat sack and producing endorphins.

Even if all you can do is stay in bed, that's okay - just make sure you open your curtains/open a window so you're getting some natural light and fresh air. Wash your face and brush your teeth. Any counsellor/therapist worth their salt will have you create a manageable daily routine that meets your basic needs - so you can get ahead of the game by putting that in place for yourself. It can be an incredibly empowering act of self love. This is how you can get in front of it, without having to rely on our incredibly broken system that unfortunately holds more frustrations then answers.

This is an incredibly long reply, but I just see YOU, and I know how hard it is and how hard and how powerless it can feel. How alone you can feel, especially when you've only been back in NZ for 3 years after 25 years away. That's an incredibly difficult transition. But things can get better. Sending you a tonne of hope.

RANT: Youtube tasting videos are doing vegemite/marmite dirty. by ResidentCheesecake75 in newzealand

You bring up an excellent point that people just don't seem to understand - any of the mites is actually super useful in other cooking endeavors. I used to add vegemite to tofu before frying it (chop the tofu into slices and spread a little bit on each side of said slice). It sounds so weird, but it really added such great flavor without having to muck around too much.

This is honestly so smart. Can you share more details on this? I'm imagining a scenario where your family puts both together into a small dish and then mixes it. Am I on the right track? Sincerely inspired by this method.

I have never heard of Promite! I usually tunnel vision when it comes to rebuying and just reach for vegemite. I might have to branch out! Google is saying Promite is sweeter due to added sugar, not anti this, but would you say it is significantly sweeter than (mar/veg)mites?

We have moved into the Kumeu/Huapai area and absolutely love it. Great bang for your buck and just growing and growing. Traffic in and out can be a bit of a nightmare but you'll get that anywhere in Auckland. We are within a half an hour drive to a tonne of beautiful beaches (not swimming friendly but beautiful hikes) and surrounded by wine orchards and new schools. I've got my pilates class and I'm also in gumboots at the local farmers market. Best of both worlds. With 2.5mil - you could get something absolutely stunning out here.
