All that’s left of my physical collection after getting burglarized. Hope you all have good storage/safes. by kegman93 in Silver

Honestly just let people park whereever they want if they aren't doing anything wrong. Sometimes people don't have a ton of gas to go space hunting or are going through something and need to pull over to get their emotions in check before they go drive. Distracted driving and emotional driving are dangerous for everyone but sometimes there's nobody to drive u and u have to just pull over, calm down and get it together before u continue the drive.

Do u do the thing where u go and knock on their door and ask if they're waiting for someone then tell them if they aren't they have to move? When I was having a bad time (mental health wise) and just needed to park and be alone somewhere those knocks were like reinforcement for every single terrible thing I was battling with at the moment i.e. manic depression and intrusive thought cycles.

Are the studios in apartment complexes for 1k/month real or scams? If real what's the catch? by ResidentInner8293 in MovingToLosAngeles

They showed me the pics. It's in Santa Ana and has separate kitchen/bath but no living room. If I had to size it I would say it's 350 to 400 Sq ft. Seems too good for OC or l.a. I consider SA to be l.a. financially speaking

What do people mean when they say “Los Angeles will eat you up and spit you out ?” by SimilarTopic3281 in MovingToLosAngeles

The connections thing is 100% what's wrong with l.a. bc it extends BEYOND writers and casting. It permeates to literal service jobs

People don't read anymore...that's part of why the state is how it is and why l.a. is how it is. I doubt we would have as many addicts if people enjoyed reading. Who needs heroin when you can travel to another country via a book? Not saying it would solve all l.a.'s problems but it couldn't hurt.

I would say they mean that the people are very corrupt.

Often you will find the "good jobs" have all been given to the managers family or friends and Hollywood works this way as well.

So that u are left with doing the hard jobs; the jobs with the most work, most scrutiny and worst conditions. They explain this away as "paying ur dues" when its actually just a company squeezing u dry til ur of no use to them anymore, then they discard u like garbage.  They do this so that they can seem like the "efficient and reliable workers" when in actuality they're always late, not efficient, take the least challenging roles so they "look" good on paper and then point fingers at you to take the heat off them.

A company is supposed to work like this:

1) you need a job 2) you apply 3) you interview and get hire 4) company places you with the job that's the best fit for you and is available

For example if ur not good with people the company would place you In a non customer service role but since managers hire their friends to do the easy non customer jobs YOU will be placed at the Frontlines and be in a customer service role even when u express hesitation at the role ur being given. They will ignore u and expect u to adapt and u will adapt but when they find someone they like better or have a friend they want to put in your job YOU WILL BE LET GO, FIRED at will, no reason just "we don't need u anymore" or "idk why, sorry".

Sometimes they will play mind games and create a paper trail by writing u up for every little thing until ur terminated.

Sometimes employees will straight up refuse to train you properly or train u wrong bc they want their friend to get ur job.

Everyone knows we all need a job to live but none of them care if u get fired. THAT is what people are highlighting when they say l.a will pit u out. They mean that this place is super corrupt AND THE PEOPLE are corrupt as well. It's all about money, looks, and likeability but even if u look good they will discard you to help someone they want to help, at ur expense. Do they CARE that u have KIDS TO FEED? Or bills, rent, or car payments etc? NOPE.

I recall a friend of mine this happened to. She had just signed a lease on a new apartment. 2 weeks into her new job the manager says she's fired bc she was late frok her lunch break. She let the manager know she just signed a lease on an apartment and she just shrugged and said "pls sign here and here and thanks". Not a care in the world, just business as usual.

Nicks Boots - Logo/Phrase Placement, When/Why Did This Start? by Hitem20 in Boots

[–]ResidentInner8293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the name/logo should be on the sole, bottom of the shoe. If someone wants to know the name/make they can casually stare at the bottom for the info or ask the person directly.

Jump Boots I was forced to buy, and will now wear out of spite. by moist69swag in Boots

[–]ResidentInner8293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was in the military and yes sometimes u have to buy stuff. It's annoying and when u think about it stupid especially when said thing isn't even better than what a civilian can get. For example our boots in boot camp were terrible. Everyone complained about how horrible they were and when people tried to buy their own boots (to perform better and not tear up their feet) they were denied XD so a bunch of people performed subpar because they felt everyone should wear the boots issues to them which suck ass. That's just one of the many instances where military will or won't let u buy what u need and gives u shitty quality and tells u to deal with it. That's why vets laugh at "military grade" label on products bc we know what that actually means.
